Aren't those primarily military units?Originally Posted by EchoFiveKilo Go to original post
Rainbow Six started out as a hostage rescue team and while many of the operators were Delta and SAS, there were also a lot members from GSG 9, GIGN, FBI HRT members...which I believe are Police units.
This "Tier 1" fascination doesn't make sense to me, since Tom Clancy's original vision didn't really cater to that fantasy...he chose particular units because of their specific expertise and experience in counter-terror operations, hostage rescue and CQB
In fact the original game even had a Brazilian member - http://rainbowsix.wikia.com/wiki/Alejandro_Noronha
We're not talking about regular street cops, those units are highly trained and experienced in CT/HR/CQB operations and are in fact dedicated to that role. Your argument is baseless.
Whether or not BOPE is a unit of the same standard as, say, FBI's HRT or GSG-9, I'll leave that up to you, but I think the way they portray those characters as some sort of cartoon caricatures is a bigger issue. The characters have set armor and mobility stats as well as having only specific weapons available for each caric...er.. character. It's absolutely disgusting.
Siege is absolutely nothing like the original R6. Vegas butchered the series for good. I wonder why they didn't just call it Siege...
Correct. Rainbow has always had police officers in their ranks. Tracy Woo for example was a LAPD SWAT officer. I actually got to go to a killhouse and train with LAPD SWAT for the Takedown fan/press event. The officers informed us that they do actually train with military units like the SEALs and actually teach them on CQB tactics. Also consider what officers did before becoming officers - one of the officers I spoke to was a former Force Recon Marine for example.Originally Posted by shobhit7777777 Go to original post
As for Siege...the characters look completely stupid for the most part since they literally don't visually go together. The BOPE operators in particular are laughable between Solid-Snake-Nelson-Mandela and Edge-Queen-McFace-Paint. It absolutely astounds me that the developers can release stupid e-sports influenced garbage like medieval helmets but can't seem to provide any realistic or tactical options.
But Dan, you don't understand, Ubi Soft is trying to make it "accessible" with lots of options. Pink metrosexual camouflage and medieval helmets is apparently how they define this. Why not stoop even lower and offer us kool-aid man outfits?Originally Posted by DanHibikiFanXM Go to original post
about Spetsnaz in R6, if one read "The Bear and The Dragon" one would know that Russian Spetsnaz do train with R6 team in there, making valid point in their existence in R6Siege
but the fact that they are still in their national group instead as Rainbow team even though after being recruited by Rainbow, and the fact that you cannot pick any weapons you wanted and forced to pick within 3 weapons makes the game silly and turn me off from playing it, seriously, would someone like IQ carry a G3 derivative LMG? shotgun/SMG would still make sense, especially considering IQ could've had more German made weapons. or let's say Ash, she's from Mossad before somehow getting into FBI SWAT team, yet I see no Tavor in her arsenal, weird considering FBI would have access to such weapon. hell Castle could've gotten KRISS Vector but that didn't exist either
considering GRWildlands is coming out soon... I do wish for the Vector to exist in the game for stuffs and giggles
I wouldn't be suprised. Dedicated CT/HR units would spend a larger proportion of their time training for that specific role than any Military unit. While Delta/SAS/KSK etc. are no doubt excellent in an HR role and do train extensively for it, they also have more "Green" duties - battlefield surveillance, long range patrols, direct action raids etc.Originally Posted by DanHibikiFanXM Go to original post
Re: Siege's Operator appearance
Yeah, I mean I understand the need to differentiate operators for the purpose of gameplay....but the lack of better customization options is disappointing. Furthermore, the look of the new Operators (especially the ones you mentioned) looks far too comical. It wouldn't be a problem, if alternate headgear and skins allowed for a more authentic look.
I understand that Siege is way more towards the E-sports, competitive end in the shooter spectrum but I think they could balance the tone a bit.
If you select Recruits only all the characters are in the same black gear, but that is then both teams. It would be great to have two teams in different, customisable camo, but I can't see them changing it too much now.Originally Posted by shobhit7777777 Go to original post
