Wut?
You realise that Orochi, even to those of us who didn't play the Alpha(s), was the clear meta from gameplay videos.
Why bother with any other class when parrying is that easy?
I like it this way, Risk vs Reward. They'll swing at my glorious Knight Assassin and i'll dodge, inflict bleed and scream "DEUS VULT!"
On that note, I haven't had any problems with shield bearers, They're always painfully unaware of their enviroment and bloodthirsty.
Run to a ladder, Slide from the top back down onto them and finish while they're confused.
P.S, Guardbreak is cancelled by pushing any attack.
You can't complain about being guard-broken constantly by people who do nothing but guard because.. well.. you know..
Okey, few notes on 5hours of gameplay.
I did reasonably well after went through the tutorial. But it did not tell anything about unblockable attack from certain classes (mainly got wrecked by the viking vanguard or something) And I do not mean throw. But a chain attack that has unblockable? This was not mentioned in the tutorial. I tryed to quick attack while I saw it to interrupt, but it landed me anyway (tested this at leat 5times) and at least the Knight who is wielding the morning star (flail) cannot evade it by evading to left (did not have a change to test should it be done to right) This was my major problem.. I do not know what do do with that. No tutorial. =(
Also, what I dislike, all playing modes seem to have this problem: upgradable gear. THere should be game modes that all have basic gear, no upgrades or feats or revenge, Just plain and simple who is better. (people can make custom games, but in the game) This is missing and really put into some normal game modes..
Using the Feats at the right time can give an edge. I like the idea
You can disable the rubber scroll wheel and that seems to help me but onestly i couldn't agree more. The middle mouse button is a lot like the middle finger, just another way to say "**** You" only to us, the gamers lol.Originally Posted by Warcannon12 Go to original post
I recruited the viking shield bearer, the warlord, immediately after I recruited Orochi, It's easier for me to parry with him and he owns Orichi. I love Orochi but he's such a glass cannon, I absolutely wreck people who aren't fully competent with him as The Warlord despite his agility. I'm a big fan of picking him up and throwing off a cliff, the hitbox on his dash just doesn't let the little samurai get out of the way.Originally Posted by mhobson Go to original post
I've been playing 12 hours, just got the game today and I've found that every single class I play has at least one unblockable move, I mean they are specifically called guard breaks dude. All you had to do was literally press start and peruse the moves list. There are som things the game doesn't tell you - how to parry for instance- but getting aggrivated about a move that was easily visible by just looking through a characters move sets? That seems like sheer laziness. I'm not trolling, I am just having trouble understanding how anyone who has played games for longer than a day wouldn't know about guard breaks in fighting games.Originally Posted by SinSorrow_EU Go to original post
As far as the idea that there should be a mode where the gear that you've earned should be banned...No. I'm jst gonna dismiss that out of hand. While adding LIMITED stat boosts all the gear I've come across - and presumably you as well since you've only played 5 hours - also has their own drawbacks. Adding some gain to your vengeance meter might not be worth the penalty to blocking damage you get for some people and it adds a deep tactical element that without would make this game a lot less appealing. People are already calling it, "Rock, paper, scissors with swords" mostly idiots sure but still, it's out there. Not to mention the gear more importantly for me adds a cosmetic value. Allows me to customize my character that I absolutely need and love in a game like this. You want everyone to look the same? exactly everyone the same boring dumb helmet and sholderpads? Because there are a lot of games that already do that, and they're awful. I'm looking at you Titanfall.
But not wanting the gear you unlock is a lot like not allowing you to change your guns in CoD or your magic spells and abilties in WoW, it's a necessary upgrade system that absolutely belongs in the game and people who whine that they don't like it are always, ALWAYS the players who have found some exploit with a character, usually the only character they can play with any degree of "skill" and use that character to spam the same attack to everyone else's irritation. They always disguise this by saying "Let it be just about skill". Well sorry broseph, skill is being able to persue all avenues the game offers you and learning the ins and outs of your character, their gear, buffs and debuffs. Knowing the ins and outs of a game in its entirety is skill, not just spamming one move over and over because its cheap and doesn't require any thought or actual skill.
Didn't mean to get carried away but whining about the same old things every scrub whines about with every singe game isn't productive and there are some things -albeit not many- that actually do require attention in this game. Server load of course, two games of dominion froze up on me when a single player quit, and a few of the hit boxes should be tweaked but it's a surprisingly solid entry into the genra for a beta, which is good because not much changes in the cosmetics of a game from beta to production.
Loving this game so far, excited for the release.

If you want to parry you hold your left stick in the direction of the incoming attack and hit RT (Heavy attack) in time. If you don't hit RT you just preform a regular block. It's not that you, "had luck and got a parry" that's not a parry what you did was just a regular block, I guess you were lucky to even get that if you were pressing the dash button. it's the same mechanics except parrying now requires an RT button press in time. It's a great system and really balances the game. I didn't play the alpha but from what you say it sounds like you could just spam parry all day. When you block with a parry correctly it still staggers your opponent, if they have no stamina it actually knocks them down. I think you just need a little more practice, but don't try to dash while blocking, that makes no sense, it's no wonder you're jumping in that direction, that's what you're telling your character to do!
No, there is a different way to parry.Originally Posted by BlindBraille Go to original post
It is even shown in the videos from the assassins. Dash to attacks to get a light parry.
Please just be more informed before you mislead me![]()
Um, what? That's called a 'Deflect' and riposte; it's not called a Parry in-game, at all.Originally Posted by MyseratyGrim Go to original post
'Deflect' you can look it up in the Moveset list, found in Customization.
Parries ARE done using Heavy attack (RT or R2), and you can learn about them in the Advanced Tutorial.
You're welcome.
Actually, in 1v1 [Duel], and 2v2 [Brawl], the Gear Stats ARE turned off, at least they're supposed to be. You can look at that by clicking X to see "Settings" after selecting a Game Mode from the world map. then look at "Modifiers."Originally Posted by BlindBraille Go to original post
