Great article on Forbes about a PvE dark zone by a journalist who has been covering The Division since the start.

I watched a video yesterday that said the division is misunderstood and actually has a high skill gap. Hilarious! This attitude is typical of those unfamiliar with competition outside of mmo/rpgs. Don't worry, The Division won't change too much.
tldr: "The Division is a great loot-shooter. It is a not a great PvP game, and never will be. Focus on what works and continue to improve it. Don’t sacrifice any more of this game on the altar of PvP, as it’s lost too much already."
It does have a high skill gap. You cant accidently get kills in this game like your typical shooter. You give a guy 256 gear and 55% mitigation they will beat an inexperienced player every single time if they know what they doing.Originally Posted by The_Warminds Go to original post
Article is written by someone who at best, in his own words, doesn't "begrudge PvP continuing to exist". Yeah, I'll take his opinions with a metric ton of salt.
Also in the same article there's this statement
"but I disagree with the idea that DZ funds should be used to purchase god-rolled maxed items Massive hand-crafts for vendors"
Where those incredible items are is beyond me. My dog could write a better article, at least he's seen the DZ whilst I play. And my dog is way cooler than him anyhow.
He is referring to Skill-Ups suggestion...Originally Posted by LepantoESP Go to original post
He even says in the sentence you quoted, 'but I disagree with the idea'
Too many cooks in the kitchen. Its why I'm hanging out in Survival mode in its beautiful simplicity.
I logged into GTA 5 online after being away for 7 months and they had so much going on. 3 or more new DLCs. tons of different styles of role play. , Everyone was doing their own thing, it was actually boring. Long gone were the days when you had a bounty half the lobby would chase you down. Now were all spread out thin doing a zillion different activities that its actually lonely. You do your own thing and have a special delivery to carry out, no one gives a ****. No one goes after you. Not much engagement like the old days.
More is not necessarily better.
In Division still don't get that world tier thing of 1.4 It ruined the Underground matchmaking.
Actually simplicity is what leads to a bigger skill gap.Originally Posted by The_Warminds Go to original post
If you look at shooters that are just that, pure shooters. The difference between a really good player and a bad player is gigantic, far bigger actually then The Division. If anything the statistical part of Gear is what normalizes skill.
Sure the bad player can get lucky, but when a good player knows what he's doing, he can easily deal with a large group of players.
Yes you can.Originally Posted by S3anS3an Go to original post
If 4 bad 10-15% accuracy players engage a single 25 to 30% accuracy player in BF4, unless he screws up, those 4 players are absolutely done for. In The Division however, those 4 players never have to consider anything and can just roll over him.
Make dz 2x the size and cut out group play, that would make DZ more fun, you could still run with friends but friendly fire would be a new thing to deal withOriginally Posted by The_Warminds Go to original post
Correct. Couldn't have put it better myself. +1Originally Posted by Corrupt_be Go to original post
