See the default national marking in PF

See the new lighting effect on national marking in FB when use my moded Mats preloaded in Cache.

I think it should be very clear which one is better. The new one look like the national marking is the part of skin, the default is a flat fabric hovered on the skin.

Is this difficult to change several params in output mats?

I'm pretty sure that you can't judge the final aircraft skin from a screenshot from a WIP. From what I've read, PF should look a little better for us than FB. So whatever you see in the FB finished product you should expect to see a little more in PF.

I think you might have misunderstood the original poster.
Those are screenshots from FB showing the new effects that can be acheived for the in-game markings. This can only be done using il2mat and matmanager at the moment - McWolf is asking for this effect to be incorporated into the game engine.

    Hi Extreme_One
Thanks for your explaination on it.

Why I worry about the marking in PF? From the picture we see there are no lighting effect on marking in PF. And I believe the mat is incorporated to 3D model, if they don't add it now, it will be not available in future.

I really wish my guess is wrong.

its obvious which one is better, mat marking that are not effected by lighting or cleaner crisper mats that are effecting by the games lighting source by mcwolf and aceshigh2.

Bump for these new mats to be added into PF

what would be even better would be to have a simillar system to the american planes when you chose the country "USA" a new skin loads with the markings

That would mean for each plane and each country a own Skin
I think to implent the moded mats in the game would be much easyer and less work for devolopers
Since i know that tool i'll never miss it

Its not really that much to add a separate national insignia on a skin.

Thats probably the easiest thing you can do to a skin. Provided that the cammo schemes are the same, you can add a RAF roundel or a USAAF star and bar and have it all as part of the same photoshop file and then just save two (or three) versions with the national markings.

The normal Mat stuff that they do for everything else I believe should still be present. That way you can still theoretically put a USA blue and white star on a Zero...but typically thats not the case.

Be all and the end all of it is that for the plane who flew it historically, there should be at least two skins for it one without any markings and one with the national markings on it. They SHOULD have done that with the Spitfire V in AEP as well...the RAF roundels are the least or second to least accurate of the markings that I'm aware of...especially since they bothered to add the ID marking code on the tail.

If there are two versions of every skin, thats not bad. Obviously doing every combination is rediculous but for the nation(s) that flew the plane...they might as well. Makes more sense to me.

    the RAF roundels

It can be easily resolved by dev team, just make separate mat for wingtop and others and select different TGA.

The game engine is very smart, when some planes use some marking, it will produce it in cache folder. But lots of skins will cause the game lag. It will be obvious online.

Personally I love the number system in FB, which is great and never seen in other games. But I wish it would be perfect. As we know, the emblem is in wrong place in 109E, incorrect size in FW190, also some problem on VVS number.

If oleg agree, I believe there are many MODers wish to send a hand on some weathered number and marking, which were already done in ACE's work. But there are many limitation on these mat that we can't mod.
