Skill UP DZ Fix Video Pt 4 Toxicity

The reason why I made 4 thread on his videos is because its a 100% fact that Massive watches his videos and his fanbase appeals more to.the PVE player base. I want to get everyone's opinions so Massive can get a better understanding of the situation.

    Now to the video....

This is a pretty by the numbers video. The too short didnt watch summary.

    1. Turrets outside of Checkpoints to stop spawn camping. (couldnt hurt) and he wants complete immunity for 5 seconds or using a skill once you enter. (I think this is kinda going overboard and someone will find a way to abuse it or Massive will create a bug that people will exploit.)

    2. Exiting the DZ while in combat....I have no problem with that.

    3. Emotes and voice chat: My suggestion is its up to the player to disable voicechat and you kinda have to toughen up when it comes to emotes. Someone clapping over you while youre downed....how is that really hurting you...besides your ego that is?

So here are my overall impression on his fixes to the DZ.

    1. I feel a PVE DZ is a complete waste of time and resources. 2 things will result....they will bored within a week or they will complain to Massive asking for changes becuase all the Landmarks will be cleared out before they get there. Then the toxicity will all over again. however I say let it happen so this issue can finally die.

    2. There does need to be PVP exclusive activities added to the DZ in 1.6 that revolves around competition.

    3. If someone is going over the edge in voice chat then they should be reported....eveything else you need to toughen up.

    Let the comments begin.

I don't get the whole PVE DZ. For players that don't like the dz, you already have the LZ, maybe just add LZ boxes that use lockpicks so people feel like it's kinda dzish.

Also let them convert regular credits or Phoenix creds into dz funds to buy from the dz vendors.

Pve dz just screams boring to me.

100 percent agree. These threads are everywhere now. The DZ is mean't to be a human vs human playfield, PvP, although you can't really call what goes on in there PvP. Unmatched and uneven teams don't make for PvP at all. Ubisoft/Massive added a ton of named enemies to the LZ, and for me at least, they've accomplished making it relevant again. We don't need the devs to add PvE to the DZ, what we need is for them to concentrate on new content, which hopefully they're doing. I need to find this video to hear for myself I guess.

Well, first, **** Skill Up and **** youtubers.

Now, since I feel OP'er posted this with good intentions, let me just say:

I played The Secret World for a long time, which has a constant PvEvP zone, named Fusang, which has deadly turrets and deadly "energy walls" only your faction can go through outside the main spawn point (HQ) for each faction (there are 3 factions). The generic spawn points ( wells) around the map are somehow guarded, as you'd spawn at a point no one can reach you unless they take the well by interacting with an orb and reach it through a portal. Activating the orb takes some time, and whoever is activating the orb can be interrupted by shooting at him, even from the spawn point, and has to start again. You can also choose to spawn at any spawn point your faction owns in the entire map.

And guess what? Players still complain about spawn camping.

    Also:
The goal of Fusang is to capture 4 buildings (facilities) and maintain control of them. To capture a facility, while fighting other players, you need to destroy a turret, so the deadly energy wall would disappear and you can enter the facility. Then you need to go inside the facility and fight this golem, so you ca then activate the orb that takes control of the facility. Now, the turret fight, this turret is right in front of the facility, very close to the deadly energy gates, you touch them, you die, period. While you can safely hit the turret with long range weapons, or even short range melee if you position yourself properly, people still insist in melee'ing this turret right next to it, which makes it really easy to use this one ability that pulls players to you, so you can pull them into the deadly energy gate.

And guess what? People complain about that too, even though it is their own damned fault for standing where they do: they rage quit, insult the other players, etc.

And guess who the majority of the complainers are? Mostly the PvE'rs who don' t like to fight, and just go in there for the missions (daily, weekly assignments).

And guess what my advice to them is? If you don't like Fusang's mechanics, don't go there. You don't need to go there.

Now, TSW has one of the friendliest, nicest, least toxic player community of any game (not to mention in-game managers you can contact through the game and generally will nip shenanigans in the butt rather quickly), and still there is complaining about the stuff mentioned above. Overall, players will come down on you for using foul/abusive language, and while TSW has dozens of emotes that could be used to taunt, it is extremely rare to see anyone used them. But in a community as toxic and as easily offended as TD's, well...

I've said this many times: A PvE DZ will make the actual PVE in this game non-existent. Any new dedicated PvE content just won't be played, because all of the new things you'll be able to get will be added to DZ, of which you'll be able to gain faster than if you were playing the LZ activities they are related to.

Being able to play alongside other PVE players without being grouped is what I hope for, whether it is in the dz area or lz.

But that would require this game to be a competent Open world RPG full of content, of which part of that an Open World RPG what this game was advertised as the rest it isn't, but I suspect year 2 will happen and it would turn into said RPG but you'll have to pay for it via DLC (betting whatever they bring will have been cut from original game and shown in original E3 trailers etc etc etc)

My reasons for wanting some DZ content that is PvE only isn't because I'm inherently anti PvP, which is a bizarre statement in it self, and I'm a multiplayer gamer much of the time, it's simply that it is a broken, toxic, moronic version of PvP that has very little to do with skill or tactics or cunning, and everything to do with the worst stuff we all know about...griefing, ganking, trolling etc...

A genuinely skill based PVP with preset classes or some kind of 4 v 4 (for teams) and free for all (for solo players), or just a more recognisable multiplayer mode, would be welcome by me.

The question of "going rogue" would need to be answered properly, and it would either have to stay (with appropriate changes) or have it's own mode...as dumping it altogether is not the solution.

It just needs some much needed refinement...as does much of the game.

It is a wonderfully detailed and immersive world at times, but at others it is rather rough around the edges and buggy...as we all know.

I've enjoyed the SkillUp series, and while some of his ideas would need extensive playtesting to ensure they weren't exploited, in principal his ideas have merit, as do many on this forum.

    1. I agree that we should allow the PvE DZ to happen. Either it will be a huge success and Massive will see what a huge failure their vision of the DZ was to start with OR people will get bored with it and as you said the issue can just die.

    2. Personally, I'd be happy with balanced PvP with no server lag and mechanics that actually work (say like you push the button marked heal/medkit and you actually get a heal or a medkit).

    3. Disagree here. I think removing all emotes and proximity game chat would be the best change that could be made for PvP.

I find it laughable that PvP players constantly refer to PvE players as "care bears" and tell them to toughen up but as soon as any PvE player suggests that PvP players live in their basements or have no jobs they go crying to the moderators and threaten to report posts. Toughen up? Please.
