I'd like to say the game, but its the people who play it. Just 5 minuets ago i was sat still reading the forms for this game although i was in the DZ. (Now i hear some of you say "why were you inactive in the DZ, are you stupid, expect to be killed and stop moaning", well to those people, keep reading). I like to see what people are angry about and weather i can put my 2 pence in on the forms.Anyway I was doing this for less than 2 minutes and one guy came over (Clearly had a pulse and found me in the tent) and because i was inactive tried to kill me. Luckily i have good reaction times so i quickly healed and killed him.
He then came back and tried it again, failed and then sent me a message saying i was terrible. What i did to have him comment that is anyone's guess. He kept coming over to me, i had no beef, but because i kept killing him he came right back. Then about the forth time, he comes back with a group, kills me, because obviously 2 alpha builds and 2 tac build would annihilate me but that's not the point. The point is after that that group clapped me. "Why" I messaged him and he replied "Because you're trash". After that each member of that group sent me the same message. Why is this community so toxic. I truly will never know.
You don't need to reply to this only to understand what this community is like, and how the developers have created such a game that is literally promoting horrible people.
The reason we have such a terrible community in game is simply the fact that Ubisoft just wants $$ and is not willing to punish people for their code of conduct.
The underlines are mine.
"Forbidden Conduct
It is forbidden to harass or bully other players via verbal or written communications. Ubisoft will not tolerate any form of harassment and may be obligated to suspend or ban any player account should harassment occur.
It is forbidden to publish pornographic or sexually explicit content via the mediums made available to the player by Ubisoft.
Any language or content deemed illegal, dangerous, threatening, abusive, obscene, vulgar, defamatory, hateful, racist, sexist, ethically offensive or constituting harassment is forbidden. This includes use of the above on the forums, via the in-game chat, or over VOIP.
Impersonation of any other player or Ubisoft employee is strictly forbidden.
Any conduct which interrupts the general flow of gameplay in the game client, forum, or any other Ubisoft medium is forbidden. This includes but is not limited to, spamming, advertising or soliciting other products.
Verbal or written abuse targeted toward a Ubisoft employee will not be tolerated, and may result in account suspension or deletion.
It is forbidden to repost any moderated content on the forums. Please contact a Community Manager directly if you have any questions on why a post or thread was edited or removed.
Exploitation of any new or known bug or glitch for personal gain is strictly forbidden and may result in character rollback, account suspension or revocation.
Any attempt to edit, corrupt or change game or server code is strictly prohibited. Any such behavior will result in the immediate cancellation of the account, and may even give rise to personal liability and/or penal penalties.
Use of third-party hacking, cheating or botting clients is strictly prohibited."
It's been this way since the game released. It's the MAIN reason why I don't go into the DZ unless I need the daily or weekly assignment to be taken care of. The amount of verbal hostility from groups toward anybody else in the DZ is shocking. And I'm not talking about verbal hostility when engaging them. I'm talking about me minding my own business, fighting the NPC's, and I'll have a gang of 2-4 show up and mow me down, then proceed to stand over my corpse and spew off threats, angry ranks, all assortment of F this and F that, and how dare you be in the DZ with us, blah, blah, blah. Allowing groups to hunt and kill solo players is just plain cowardliness in my mind. I don't know how many of you feel the same way, but I'm not sure the message is getting through to Ubisoft/Massive. It was an interesting idea prior to the game coming out, but in the end it was horribly implemented, and still is to this day. I can't see 1.6 making it any better.
I agree, code of conduct violators are running rampant in the DZ every single day, EVERY SINGLE DAY! Verbal harassment while standing over a dead body where they know pretty much that the person can hear them, coward move and the players doing it should be banned.Originally Posted by CV_SiddinDragon Go to original post
That's actually really horrible to hear. That reminds of the old Call of Duty days.
Now, this isn't ego talking, or whatever you would like to call it, it's more being very aware of how good you are compared to other players. Back during MW2, Black Ops 1, and 2, even 3, I would get hate messages all the time, and I mean, all the time, from total strangers. Now let's look at an example of why I would get these messages: Black Ops 2, around the time the game moved way past its peak, my K/D sat at 3.5+. Clans would join lobbies, and I'd run through them. Swarms, Orbital VSAT, K9-Unit, I throw those up a couple of times during a match, here come the messages.
"Kill yourself", "You're trash", "You f***ing hacker."
Your situation is no different. I think people's conscious have a hard time accepting defeat, and deflect any possibility that their loss was brought upon by themselves, rather than from their opponent. They create irrational reasons why they lost and view these reasons as inferior constructs, blaming your use of a tactic or strategy the reason why YOU suck. Not them. When they start sending messages, that's when you know they have deeper problems. I was glad to hear when Xbox added the ability to block incoming messages from people other than your friends.
Now on PC, there's the chat, but you can hide every type of message from Say and Whisper.. But, I knew early on that as soon as people started posting their builds and inflated numbers, egos were gonna take over and the community would eventually implode. It's no different from having K/D ratios on display. Then the guy brought his friends? Yeah, he was trying to prove something to himself, or in other words, quiet the screaming of his conscious.
This is why The Division is still on life support.
The devs keep focusing on so-called PVP because it's cheaper than adding more PVE content e.g. story line expansion which requires voice acting, motion capture & animation, new environments, new game mechanics, etc.
The little kids and man-children who inhabit the DZ are not good at balanced, competitive PVP.
You know, I know it and they know it.
They just like the power fantasy of steam rolling over somebody because I am sure it happens to them all the time in real life, or in other, real competitive games.
The Division has one of the most toxic communities because the developers promote it with DZ mechanics and rewards.
They want everybody to be "divided" instead of be a real community and it has cost them dearly.
I doubt much will change with 1.6, and I sure as Hell, will not buy Season 2 content unless they get their heads out of there Swedish butts and realize the majority of Division players were and always will be PVE-oriented who want a more mature and adult gaming experience... Versus ganking and trash talking that appeals to a very small, but vocal immature minority.
