I love For Honor's low fantasy Medieval setting and particularly like the factions. The classic Knights of the Iron Legion, the Samurai of the Dawn Empire, and the Warborn Viking Clans are all unique and iconic feudal choices. That said, I feel like something big is missing. A certain link between the eastern and western worlds.

Where is the Middle Eastern-inspired faction?

I for one hope that For Honor eventually gets a "Saracen" inspired faction as future DLC. There's a lot of historical peoples and cultures to choose from- the Abbasids, Fatimids, Moors, Turks, Persians, etc with warriors like Ghazis, Ghilman, Mamlukes, Sipahis, etc. But out of this myriad ofchoices, my suggestion would be the Janissary Corps of the Ottoman Empire.

Why the Janissaries?

1.) They fill that iconic medieval Middle Eastern gap in For Honor's selection of factions.

2.) They are a distinctive elite soldier group and culture. Furthermore, they mostly fought as elite infantrymen. (I'd also love a Mongol faction but they wouldn't fit in For Honor because the combat system focuses on melee and not on horse or bow combat).

3.) The Ottoman Empire covered a huge area and could use influences from Turkey, the Balkans, Iraq, the Levant, Egypt, North Africa, Arabia, and more. For example, if the historical Janissaries don't have a direct equivalent of an Assassin class, why not give this faction a Hashashin hero? They're the entire reason for the word Assassin in the first place. This also means they have quite a bit of armor choice- chain, lamellar, scale, segmented plate and mail, etc (though it seems that the Ottomans preferred mail and segmented plate mail).

4.) Furthermore, Janissaries themselves used all sorts of weapons like sabers, axes, shields, clubs, halberds, recurve bows, bombs, and firearms. More than enough for the 4 hero archetypes- Vanguard, Heavy, Assassin, and Hybrid.

5.) They would be thematically interesting. The Janissaries are a product of the LATE Middle Ages and sorta mark a transition from medieval armies' coalitions of feudal lords and warriors to the professional standing armies of the Modern Era. Bonus points because they were also among the first professional firearm units.

Thus if Apollyon's love of eternal war represents division and stagnation and even regression, the invasion of a Janissary faction would not just be the attack of something foreign and new but could also represent the brutal forces of progress and centralization that could break For Honor's feudal world.

6.) They have a lot of cool/glorious/funny hats to choose from
