They did the same with the division trailer, I detest live action trailers.Originally Posted by Shadow__Hazard Go to original post
Wonder how much it cost.
It is not cheap, that is for sure ☺Originally Posted by Zoream Go to original post
I dont think that live action video they made leading up to future soldier was cheap eighter. Alpha I think it was called..
I think the money could be spent better making a gameplay information video.. but it is what it is.
Sniper taking he's sweet time playing with the baddies cat before taking them out, cough cough.
I think these videos are marketed towards casuals etc, to appear on TV. They're not necessarily directed at the hardcore players such as yourselves.
Also, that was nowhere near as good as Future Soldier's Live Action trailer. I was expecting something like this:

Also, the 'Alpha" Live Action film was also amazing, I hope it gets the Assassins Creed motion film treatment.
I get the fact that it was directed towards casuals. But portraying the ghosts like uprofessionel idiots is another thing..Originally Posted by EchoFiveKilo Go to original post
I hope we get some info soon about important stuff like health system for players and squad ai. How capable our squad ai is... or will they just follow us around? How does loadouts work.. are we forced to go with two primary rifles? And l can think of a whole lot of other questions!
Seeing trailers like this just worries me that there wont be much of a "hardcore" side to it.. maybe the beta will show us what they meant with wildlands ghost recon authenticy.
I haven't seen much in Wildlands that lends towards authenticity at all, for that matter. Ghost Recon Future Soldier did an amazing job at portraying the Tier 1 operator, you can tell they really utilised their NAVY SEAL consultants fully, from the weapons, to the animations and mo-cap. For example, the weapon stances looked realistic in cutscenes, the way they kicked doors open - for example, the new way to kick a door open is from the side of door with the backfoot, not standing in front of the door, or your character scanning and assessing while you were ADS'd, etc, if you cross reference with a game like MOH: Warfighter, who had DEVGRU (Seal Team 6) consultants on their game, you can tell the game was very authentic.Originally Posted by he1nz Go to original post
In GR:W, the weapon handling I saw from the operators looked amateur, the hand placements on the pistol for example still using the cup and saucer grip instead of the modern day thumbs forward grip that Tier 1 guys use. What about 4 guys in a helicopter, all bailing out over a DZ including the pilot? Definitely not realistic. I was already devastated at R6:Siege going the comical route and departing from its authentic roots, looks like Ghost Recon is the next Tom Clancy game to suffer from this.
Also, I wished that GR:W squad AI was similar to GRAW 1 and 2 - pretty disappointing that a mid 2000s era game, damn, even the Original Ghost Recon, had better squad AI than future soldier, a 2012 game. But judging from the trailer, the narrator said we can issue "simple" commands, so I'm assuming that is limited to the sync shot.
Yeah I really detest everything about this trailer.
1) The composition of the trailer. They show what is in my opinion, the "apex scene" of the trailer ("Meow") in the first few seconds, then cut away to lead up to the same scene again, with no variation or extended meaning. This is like putting a teaser trailer for the trailer you're about to watch IN THE TRAILER. And the teaser has the best part in it. Fail.
2) There's no way a laser projected from anyone on the Ghost team could have made it to half of the locations they showed it in. I mean, they showed it on the ground between the table the bad guys were sitting at and the window the Ghosts shot through. The Ghosts weren't at nearly a high enough elevation for that to have happened. Also, none of the Ghosts appeared to even have any kind of laser designation equipment.
3) This portrays the Ghosts pretty unprofessionally. They're an elite groups of special operations soldiers, supposedly the best of the best. Yeah, I'm sure they have their own internal fun and jest among themselves, but they sure as **** wouldn't play catch-the-laser with a cat while getting ready to waste some bad guys. This makes the Ghosts seem like a band of care-free "screw it, we'll do it live" type mercenaries.
All around, I'm well aware that this trailer was aimed towards the "casuals" out there. But I really hope that when they ran this past Ubisoft Authenticity at Red Storm (I mean... They did run it past them right?...) they got a huge disapproval and a significant amount of feedback suggestions to make it more feasible.
The aforementioned Future Soldier live action trailer, which lead up to the Alpha short-film was all fantastic stuff. Any further Wildlands live action should be much more serious and authentic to the silent professionals that are the operatives of 5th SFG GHOSTS.
