i think this video is not doing justice to the cover system in GRFS. i watched a few MP matches on YT yesterday, just to remember, and when other players shot the player who was recording i could see how well they were hidden and that pretty little of them was exposed. not in every situation, obviously, but in many it looked like the cover system was doing its job against human players, which 99% of the games dont do. in 99% of the PVP games the cover system isnt effective enough because moving and firing at the same time has no penalties.
however GRW is a PVE game where such a system could have been beneficial.
and if you think the animations in GRFS were sped up, have you SEEN the footage of GRW?! god da%n they move like the flash whenever they need to do something like mount a bike, a car or things like that. i dont like the animations footage of GRW so far. admittedly the most footage i've see was alpha and things can change.... but.... well... you know....
The distraction grenade throw animation in the stealth trailer for GR:W looked absolutely horrible. Sped up to the point where it looks unnatural as hell.Originally Posted by topeira1980 Go to original post
I'll admit, realistically suppressed weapons, rifles especially, create a noticeable crack that would definitely be more-so than a body falling against the dirt, but most will admit and concede that suppressors in games have always been obscenely quiet. That little 'pfft, pfft' of Hollywood that couldn't be noticed by anything not two feet from the weapon, while a body dropping to the floor is, in some games, detected through a storm and from several meters away. It isn't realistic, but it's what I and many others have come to expect.
To that effect, it is cool to see someone actually consider the idea. Reality-wise, anyone close enough to hear his body fall would already have heard the report of the weapon itself. But this is a game and even ARMA III isn't hyper-super-realistic. Concessions for the sake of gameplay are normal and expected.
A solid example of shooting, nice video. Love the man's attitude, very nice to see. I especially loved the advice of not being sucked up to cover, as all snap-to-cover systems do. Granted, I have only maybe seen one with an animation so bad as to match the Hollywood example he gave, but still. Cover is cover, from two inches to fifty meters, all it needs is to be between you and enemy weapons as it works.
hardly a "solid example of shooting." It's the equivalent of someone breaking inanimate wooden boards to prove his martial arts skills.Originally Posted by ThePollie Go to original post
