That was a marvel to play with.
The only GR games with a cover system were GRFS and Phantoms. Phantoms took the GRFS system, made significant improvements to the camera system and cover interaction animations, and then tweaked it for PC.

Between the two systems (on PC), Phantoms was far superior.

Here are some good examples from one of the original Ghost Recon Online/Phantoms game designers:

Try those moves in GRFS, the camera and cover system just weren't designed for that kind of interaction.

I won't say Phantom's cover system was bad to play with - It wasn't great, and frankly I will always prefer manual leaning. My problem with the game was rampant hackers, poor game balance, a hamfisted "Give us money!" game-shop, and terrible server connection. Not as bad as some Korean games I know, but a fault is a fault and I'll call it out when I see it.

Phantoms has really good control scheme that's really easy to learn. but seriously, what's the fun of peek jerking an enemy like you just blazed a ton of weed? I swear all those SOB made sniping harder in that game, also considering how a 7.62 NATO DMR under 50 meters didn't melt anyone's face anymore in that game, but a 5.7mm P90 in golden skin, slightly longer barrel, and a suppressor melt everyone's face over 300m away.

back to topic, I'm just glad GRW won't have that kind of cover system

In regards to the original topic of this post, the latest single player video showed exactly (one) instance of 3rd person shooting, around the 16:45 minute mark of the video. I'm stoked!

Sure it is... specially on a super duper tactical game like this one. After all, you need all the help you can get with those eagle eye guards you will have to fend off.

At any rate, speaking of the latest single player video, WHY does Ubisoft INSIST on using the first person aiming/??????

You don't have to use Iron Sight aiming if you don't want to. You have to press a button in order to go into that perspective.
