What's the point of new characters?

If each toon shares the same name and stash inventory, and we can (apparently) do everything, unlock everything, what's the point in multiple character slots?

For me it's being able to use different builds so that I don't have to mess about swapping gear around, also I like being able to play as different looking characters. Plus if you're a horder like me the extra back pack space is nice.

Mules. That's it. If there were actual classes than having multiple toons would make a ton of sense.

So, in the early days, Incursions (Falcon Lost and Clear Sky at the time) had weekly rewards, of which when you completed them, you'd have to wait a week later until you were able to get the weekly rewards again. So, to bypass the waiting, people, or at least me, made a second, third and even fourth character, because weekly rewards were character based, instead of account based. You would just transfer your gear over and go from there.

But since you get a ton of loot and there are no weekly rewards for Incursions now, multiple characters are only good for Season Pass supply drops, because they are character based, not account based.

Because in my case, and others as well I imagine, I found the story from 1-30 lots of fun and wanted to do it again.

I do but I don't need more than one character to do it.

I run 1-30 through then delete and start all over again (I have no reason to keep my original character so it gets deleted) just like Survival I start from 0 everytime

1-30 is the only good part of this game (currently doing my 31st run on it) it's all that's left in this game.

To hold gear. They thought this game was going to be like destiny and you would run the incursion (raids) weekly on different characters to get more loot.

I have one character that stays in the 229 dz, another character for 256 dz, one that holds loot, and another that uses fun gear sets that aren't that great in the DZ.
