New LAW regarding drop rates!
You read that right there are new laws coming that are going to require video game developers to publish all data regarding drop rates of items. This law actually originates in China but will affect pretty much all developers since almost every game is released in china and it will be simple task of running that data through a translator or having someone in the community translate it for us.
What the law says:
-Drops rate percentages must be published and made available to the public (This refers to what the devs have programmed the drop rate to be).
-Actual drop rate percentages must published (What actually dropped for players over a certain amount of time).
-This also applies to things like caches. Percentages must be published for all items that can drop from a cache.
-Crafting and this a major one. All crafting outcomes must have their percentages listed. This is going to be a real headache for Massive since crafting in this game has RNG on top of RNG on top of more RNG. This applies to all out comes of stat rolls and talents on gear.
-This data must be available in game or via their website. Data must be kept for at least 90 days.
What does this all mean though? Well it means that many gamers are going to find out how bad of a virtual slot machine this game really is. More complex calculations can be done to determine how much a game is actually worth your time. Game developers are actually going to be getting competitive with each other over having a more rewarding game. This also opens the door for United States anti gambling laws to step foot into our games since for example buying a loot crate and opening it is a form of gambling. Honestly I think many of us are going to be quite mad at Massive since I believe they have been lieing to us about drop rates of items as there was no reason for them to tell us actual numbers.
