Feedback needed: Calbiration/Tuning issues on PC

We've seen user reports regarding tuning and calibration issues. Thanks for the detail -- it helps. We're investigating these issues on PC first, as we can quickly iterate and run beta builds easily on PC, then we can spread the fixes to consoles.

Today we sent out a patch that should fix two specific issues on PC: The Real Tone Cable should now be recognized by the game (and not just Windows in Device Manager), and you should only be asked to calibrate once (not every time you play). If your calibration issues were covered by that and it works now, great. If not, there's another step you can take that will help the team a lot: I could really use the audio log from your system.

To generate one, set the DumpAudioLog=0 flag in your rocksmith.ini file to =1, run the game once, and then change the flag back to 0. (Make sure you turn this flag off, or it will keep adding to the text file every time you play RS, and you don't want that!)

Please post those results here so our team can check out what's going on when your system experiences these audio issues. Thanks!

    PC:

I just played and had the worst experience ever.

The audio took 2 minutes play sometimes.

I played one song. The song failed to load so it kicked me back to the main screen saying I got 0% on the song.

Album art wasnt rendering in Learn a Song.

I pressed ctrl and it shot me to a screen with a green sofa. No words or anything. It sat there for 5 minutes and I had to reboot.

What the heck is all this crazy latency? Seems like the game engine is deadlocking. Not enough threads? Trying to get this to run a a mobile phone is nice, but what about us PC users?

EDIT: restarted it again now things are playing great. And a new "You unlocked a larger venue" notification popped up after I played a song.

The main issue I was having was that Always with Me Always With You, the intro, I can barely hear anything. I hear more sound coming from my actual guitar than the game. The backing track volume is fine and I have that set to 50%. I initially had the calibration issue where it wasn't detecting the input at all during calibration but I got it working by flipping the input from mic then back to guitar. I haven't tried calibrating anymore. But I think the weaker audio also started happening after I re-calibrated. I can try calibrating again after your latest patch to see if that fixes it.

Also, I have a ton of crash logs saved up. But the crashing is another altogether. Right now, I can make the game consistently crash just by going to the advanced video settings. I click that and bam, the game crashes.

    System Specs
    OS: Windows 10 Pro x64 version 1607 build 14393.576
Audio: Realtek Digital Output (on board audio) I have a Sound Blaster Z but I'm not running through that as it has more audio delay
    RAM: 16 GB
    Processor: Intel i5 3570 3.40Ghz
Display: AMD Radeon HD 6800. Software Version 16.2.1

    PC/Mac

Hi, I'm not on PC per se, I'm on Mac. Are my comments welcome on this thread or do you have another to suggest? I have quite a bit to post, so I don't want to make an irrelevant wall of text. I'm trying to diagnose the issue surrounding screeching sound being picked up rather than guitar tone (but at a guitar's strum) and have it assessed. You can see my posts on the subject on this thread in the Steam forums under "Dan Suther": http://steamcommunity.com/app/221680...1002891/?ctp=2 .

Since I'm going ahead making this possibly irrelevant post, I might as well ask: Where do you find the audio logs on a mac? The ini file has DumpAudiologs set to 1, but I'm not picking it up in the Rocksmith folder.
