I think No Man's Sky is actually winning biggest disappointment of 2016 "awards".

Well SF5, a game hyped and anticipated, launched in an embarrassingly poor state, with severe lack of content.

No Man's Sky was arguably the biggest let down in recent memory.

The farcical state of Batman:Arkham Knight on p.c was another let down and severe disappointment, though admittedly that was more the state of the p.c version regarding crashes, bugs, unsolvable puzzles etc...and then added to the anticipation for a new Batman game it certainly made it one of the most disappointing games of 2016.
(Am I right that it launched in 2016? As I think I might be mistaken)

Mafia 3 was a huge letdown for many too.

CoD: Infinite Warfare was universally derided and felt by many to be a huge disappointment as well.

These are just a handful, but when viewed in comparison I think The Division isn't quite the monumental disaster some suggest.

Came here to point this out. No matter what a debacle The Division has been, it isn't even in the running compared to the disappointment that No Man's Sky was.

In terms of video games being released in '16 not living up to their potential, general hype often built on false advertising and stripped content/features on release, or simply being riddled with **** eating bugs that are still running rampant a whole year later, The Division is certainly up at the top of the list. There have been quite a few so-called "Triple A" games released in the year that were a let down, but The Division had the most potential out of all of them which it sadly just did not live up to.
I agree. There's way too much slamming other people for their opinions on here. After all, its a forum and the last time I heard that's what its supposed to be used for.

You said it very well, Shadow, The Division was released with so many issues that it's to argue against it being one of the biggest disappointments in video game releases in 2016. I was plagued with a lot of those issues, and for some, I still am. Having to submit 14 trouble tickets to Ubisoft only to be told the problem is my internet connection only leads one to become even more frustrated. IF the support from Ubisoft tech support were better at least a few people wouldn't feel this way. Like a lot of you are saying, the 1-30 experience is second to none, so I give them credit for that. Also, the decision to admit they screwed up with 1.3 and the eventual release of 1.4 was really good, kudo's to them for that. The rest of the game though is a struggle in grinding, getting ganked in the DZ, and generally just being bored to death in Survival. I'll certainly be looking forward to The Division 2, and will keep my fingers crossed that it releases without the game-breaking problems from the original.

I didn't play No Man's Sky as I have an Xbox, but Mafia 3?????? I thought that was one of the best games I've ever played. Thoroughly engrossing from start to finish. Did you play it?

No, I haven't played Mafia 3...and that's what I meant by it being subjective.

I was just listing those game which, relative to their hype and anticipation, were felt to be a disappointment.

Ive been playing it since launch, all other games fell to the way side because they didnt last more than a week on their hardest difficulties.

I'll be playing The Division right through 2017 provided they continue to improve the formula and not rewrite it.

Despite the game's rocky release, lots of sales followed by an historic exodus that left only a few thousand concurrent players on steam during the darkest days of 1.3, Massive has shown they are committed to improving the game. Looking back it's amazing how much this game has changed and the fact that it was in such a poor state on release but has improved so much is why i'm excited to see what else Massive will do in 2017.
Op has every right to be pissed at this **** show of a game. Especially if he's been here since beta which sounds like he was.

On PC there are STILL plenty of the same bugs / cheats here for a LONG time now.

If anyone is satisfied with this game in current state after all the bs then great. I am not. Pretty sure plenty of players can see the potential this game could be but the noob *******s at massive can't figure **** out. They need a EFT to help save the game.
