Lol so many ******s crawling out of the woodwork here to bash the OP. You don't like a particular game so you must be a sad, entitled no-lifer? Wow. Some of you people need serious psychological help.
In terms of video games being released in '16 not living up to their potential, general hype often built on false advertising and stripped content/features on release, or simply being riddled with **** eating bugs that are still running rampant a whole year later, The Division is certainly up at the top of the list. There have been quite a few so-called "Triple A" games released in the year that were a let down, but The Division had the most potential out of all of them which it sadly just did not live up to.
I was disappointed the first time I tried mushy pea's but didn't think it was necessary to visit www.mushypeas.com to tell everyone that I didn't like mushy peas.
I think people more have issue with people who don't like certain games seeking out the website for said game to voice their displeasure. If the game isn't what you wanted, move on? I didn't follow the hype for this game that much (and only bought it a month ago) but I would be really surprised if this was ever billed as a survival game. Maybe I'm wrong. It sounds more like he just wanted a certain type of game, and didn't get it.Originally Posted by Shadow__Hazard Go to original post
I can't speak to the bugs and such since, like I said, I only got the game recently. I know it's gone through a lot of improvements so maybe I'm just lucky that I'm only playing now, however I really enjoy it. I think if the entire game was like the Survival Mode it would be boring. Then again I've never been a fan of survival games.
Yeah, we really need some true end game content. Once you're geared there is not much to do apart from going into the DZ. All of the missions are a cake walk, and the incursions are long and a tad boring. Underground I can only stand a round or 2 of and get bored, but it is easy. Survival is fun, but takes a while and you can't use anything that you spent time grinding for. We need some hard content to put our builds to the test. Let's have nice cool clothing items to get as a rewardOr a guaranteed named item drop.
I am playing much less now, as all the loot I get is trash and I can not be bothered to run Lexi a million times in hope of getting a badly rolled chest piece, so tired of that mission. I have about 12 builds, over 4 characters, so I don't even have that to experiment with.
I'm looking forward to the PvP balancing patch, but I hope that they add some true PvE end game content with that too.
I guess if you are into the particular flavour of this game in the DZ, it is still fun to play and the game story up to level 30 for the solo or group player is great. Problem is that once all the side missions etc disappear, the story dies and has never been expanded on. To do the same few missions over and over where you know exactly when and where the AI will spawn and how many just doesn't cut it and to be sent to the same garage or street intersection over and over with the same scripted AI in the HVT's is equally as repetitive. You cannot have a game that has new content added every week, but there has to be enough content with random action or you just get a repetitive grind for loot and rewards to use on what you just did.
Than any other game. You're making comparisons. Then makes absolutely no sense at all.Originally Posted by mikedraling94 Go to original post
Just saying...
It's getting better though, I'm looking forward to 1.6, the next dlc and hopefully a second year of content. Despite the game's rocky release, lots of sales followed by an historic exodus that left only a few thousand concurrent players on steam during the darkest days of 1.3, Massive has shown they are committed to improving the game. Looking back it's amazing how much this game has changed and the fact that it was in such a poor state on release but has improved so much is why i'm excited to see what else Massive will do in 2017.
While it's subjective whether The Division is a "good game", I think it's certainly provable and not open to bias that it is definitely value for money.
When you consider the story upto level 30 is a good size campaign in and of itself, if you tidy up all the completionist aspects like drones, echos etc...that doesn't even count the DZ.
Then there is the "end game", or as I prefer to call it the "post story" part, which is where the real quest begins for the best loot.
Yes, it is a bit of a revolving door, catch 22 type scenario, in that you try to get better loot just to make progress against NPCs and other players in the DZ with the goal of getting better loot to kill NPCs and other players etc...and it can feel like a pointless and futile, or meaningless, exercise.
I feel like it's the hope of getting that special drop, the piece of gear or whatever, that keeps you plodding on.
That is almost infinite, in the sense that you can play for 10 hours a day for 6 months and still not be satisfied and happily continue playing for another 10 hours a day for 6 months.
There aren't many games that have the ability to hold players for that long, whether it's grinding and persevering or not.
When you look at the extra content, incursions, underground and the like, I think that The Division is a great product as far as value for money.
A good game?
Yes.
Perfect, with no issues?
No.
But the biggest disappointment of 2016?
In my opinion no way, not even close.
Not arguing for or against your statement, what game was?Originally Posted by RhinoCharging00 Go to original post
