They don't get to me but I thought this forum was about more than just me or you. I AM one of the people who gets killed a lot and clapped over because I'm usually one of the last ones to give up and 1v4 (or 1v9 as it ended up last night) isn't good odds.

It's comical a lot of the time. The nine man supergroup had a sniper set up right outside the check point trying to one shot people as they spawned. He got shot numerous times obviously before respawning players were focused on by the rest of the group and we were told on the mic to stop "picking on the sniper" because it was unfair. Seriously?

I accept there are legitimate uses of the emotes, I agree with Skorpiqn that on some occasions there are players who genuinely clap or salute to signify respect or appreciation for a good fight. I also agree that even without emotes people will stand over you and shoot you in the head or club you with the grenade to signify contempt just because they can and they are stupid.

However it amazes me how butt hurt PvP players on the forum get for being called scum or told that the Division is a social experiment that mirrors their behaviour in real life and yet they see no issue with all the taunting, abusive comments and basically anti-social behaviour that goes on in the DZ. If 'anything goes' in the DZ does it become acceptable for me to drop the "N-bomb" on any black person who happens to be playing? I personally don't think so and yet in a real apocalypse I highly doubt that this sort of language wouldn't exist. However if I go into the DZ for a little PvP fun, I am expected to tolerate being called a "c*nt" and a "fa**ot" just because I killed a rogue (which is playing the game as it was intended to be played) and his friend took offence.

It is 'just a game', and I don't really want to hear that sort of talk over the mic anymore than a lot of you want to tolerate racial slurs or being called scum because you choose to PvP over PvE. If no-one can accept that point of view and wants to call me a care bear and crybaby for bringing it up, perhaps the moderators can tell PvP players to just "man up" and accept it when you get called scum or are classified as social miscreants on the forum. What's the difference?

If it is just a game, there should be a bit of mutual respect and if players are incapable of showing that respect all I am saying is that perhaps we shouldn't give them the opportunity to act that way.

Would removing proximity chat unless you specifically turn it on break the game? Would a lack of emotes break the game? Would it be that bad if we just automatically went to a black screen with a respawning choice after death and ran down our timer in the checkpoint or safe house?

There are a lot of things in this game that need fixing but it still amazes me that a group of supposedly educated intelligent individuals still cannot see that a lot of people left because the DZ is on the whole a toxic environment. People can accept that going into the DZ involves PvP. It shouldn't have to but a lot of people accept it nonetheless. But a lot of us don't accept that we should have to put up with the sort of comments and behaviour we get just for playing an element of the game as it was intended to be played. And if you can't accept that then as I said above, perhaps some of you shouldn't be getting upset about being called scum just because you choose to engage in PvP. You can't have it both ways.

Can i just say that there are PvP players and Gankers/Griefers/Trolls.

The only way you'll differentiate the two is with an ARENA. There the boys from the men are seperated. All the problems people have with the DZ will never go away, it's that kind of arena designed on purpose to emulate power struggle in a situation like this. However it is chaotic with respawns and battles of attrition.

Real PvPersare organising 1v1s in big groups around checkpoints and wont shoot you if you don't interfere.

I wish there were more emotes

    things like

Get out of the way or coming through emotes (so those of us who P v E the DZ the original way can give that indication to Rogue's/neutrals and gankers who camp entrances) the amount of times I say coming through or out of the way when I run past them gets tedious.

So simple emotes would fit the bill ( a swing of the arm for out of the way or a double movement of the arms to say coming through would suffice)

    Agreed.

One of the most fun nights I have ever had at DZ01 was just outside the checkpoint. We all stood on vehicles at the little dead end section on the right just outside the door and had 1v1s whilst our team mates waited, ready to pick up anyone who got downed. Every time the NPCs spawned we all jumped down and wiped them out and started over. The chat parties were all full, everyone was killing each other but it was great fun and not one insult was hurled all night. And the quality of the players and the builds far exceeded 90% of anything I have seen camping the checkpoints.

I think we can safely add emotes and proximity chat to the "got it wrong" list. When i heard someone from another studio talking about how their "social team" carefully made design decisions like whether or not to include proximity chat i realized massive may have been in over their heads.

Proximity chat is the main reason we meet so many new friends in this game!

Without proximity chat and emotes how can you tell the guy "hey nice build" or "thanks for the help"

Proximity chat is a huge part of the social aspect for this game I do not think you realize that taking it away will be taking away a part of the game that makes it unique.

The people who do not like emotes and prox. chat strike me as one thing and one thing only.....

    Thin skinned softies.

Just lock yourself in your room and dont talk to anyone that way you wont find yourselves offended all the time.

    And one more thing!

I find its the height of selfishness that just because you do not like a feature you want to strip that feature from everyone else.

Hey, I dont like the fact that people are allowed to grow vegetable gardens, If I had my way gardens would be banned across the globe because they bother me personally.
