    I love this idea. After all this is an RPG/shooter. Whats more RPG than saying my character is this or that.

    LMB NPCs do not attack us but any other NPC like Rikers, Rioters, Cleaners will most certainly attack and they give us drops just like in the open world. We collect gear and have the same RNG for all the same gear sets, weapons, and mods. We just do not need to extract the items.

    This also means that Agents will have a clear enemy as well as Rogues to contend with in the DZ.

    As for Devs having to add much to make this happen – I not sure as I am not a programmer but surely, most will already be there when I say we can use the same weapons, mods, gear sets but just need different safe houses locations, a single Base of Operation to work out of within the DZ (this could be in the UG tunnels and we use those tunnels to move around). This BoO would need to be built up just like the open world BoO by running certain missions.

    This then means there is a 3rd option in the DZ at killing players and could lead to some great fights and even more expansion on a later date. Raids could even take place over the entire DZ as you would have 2 sides of a known quantity fighting and the Rogues to add a little spice to it as well. It, also, allows even further expansion by adding the other factions (Rioters, Cleaners etc) as player controlled toons if you wish.

    These LMB toons would only play within the confines of the DZ. Any loot or funds collected on this single DZ toon stays 100% on this toon and cannot be shared across to the other account wide toons that the player may have.

    Having an opposite side will clearly improve PvP as this would be a fun factor as I know many players would love to play LMB...

    Sorry for the wall of text as well 
    I have another idea based on this.

    just remove rogues and let players choose a faction when they enter the DZ and make those factions Agents(JTF), LMB, Rikers, Rioters or Cleaners and let those NPC`s be also friendly towards you.

    This will open up a lot more possibilities like defending a Boss of your own faction, and this means no more rogues but always enemy faction players, also with this you can get ranked up on this faction to open up more or different gear or maybe even skills to use.

    Any thoughts people on my idea??

    This is exactly what i was thinking when i think of a PVP area, and i think it's quite easy to implement the choice, left entrances are for Agents, and right entrances are for rogues and vice versa for the pick up spots. This is just flagging the player by use of entrance instead of shooting another player.

    Or ofcourse they could keep it that way and implement smaller instantiated PvP arena's for free the prisoner ( CTF ) Detonate the Bomb etc..... The PvP was what i liked and played most in WoW until they balanced and dumbed the hell out of it, this game with so incredibly much variaty in gear possibilties could potentially be a great PvP game and bring back the fun in PvP. Wouldn't it be great to have the whole DZ as a big Team DM Zone like this ?

    Give players some extra PvP only gear as PvP rewards to attract more people to the DZ.

    Mind you, i really do like the DZ as it is, but this could and would be great additions to give players more end game.

    That's why i would suggest no chosing at the checkpoints but assign all left sides to Agents and all right side to rogue, this way it would be a lot more dangerous to camp at a checkpoint. And maybe even put sentry guns as a safeguard against entrance campers.

    Lol let me collect myself. This is why the game is broken listening to people like you. I won't waste my breath explaining to you how this is idiotic.

    The Devs should move on from the DZ. It is what it is. In 1.6 they should give us the pvp arena. 1v1 2v2 4v4 24 player FFA options. No gear sets.

    Not really. An arena is pure PvP, this is basically the actual DZ, so PvPvE, bosses, loot and the other stuff but you know who's on your side and who's not.
    Once you meet an "enemy" you can choose if engage him or not...so in my mind is not a PvP arena.

    I really like the East vs West idea.

    As he's already said, it will be a lot more difficult to camp at an enemy CP because you'll be sorrounded by a lot of spawning enemies. Or/and you (the developers) can add sentry guns at every CP, or just make an enemy free area near the CP, or again introduce something like a 15 seconds "God mode" timer after spawning...the spawnkilling problem is easily resolvable, but it doesn't seem Massive want to take actions about it.
