I think some of the problem in the DZ is the 'revive' function. I wouldn't really want to see this mechanic lost completely because I really wish we could get back to the concept of cooperating and helping each other a lot more in this game. However, given that the DZ is not about that, one issue for solo players is that even if you get a rogue (or a player on another team down) 90% of the time they get revived whilst you are fighting the remaining players.
If there was no revive in the DZ or if there was no revive if you are shot by players who are solo or in a team with a lower number of players, I think it would balance things more. Or make the time required to revive much longer, with a correspondingly longer time that players can remain in the downed state (waiting to be revived).
Perhaps it could be made that in the DZ you go straight to 'unconscious' requiring a much longer revive time BUT you can remain on the map for say 1-2 minutes in the unconscious state.
