Hello all

I'm curious what you think about peer to peer and dedicated servers. I know there has been a lot of discussion about it, what the pro's and contra's are from P2P etc... I think it would be interesting to see how players thinks about this game!

P2P is undeserving for such a game!

It may be good, but i prefer dedicated servers to be sure

Why would anyone who plans to buy the game on console, vote to have PC only dedicated servers?

p2p servers do have their problems and disadvantages.

possobly the biggest weak spot is the hosting client. the host has power over the whole game and this can be really tricky. instable wifi, multile users, streaming while gaming... the list goes on. this can lead to disconnects, lousy connection and off course a big advantage in duels and pvp in general. the host always has a slight advantage. it will certainly not turn the host into an uber-player but it might give an edge in a very close game.
next problem are rage-quitters and (other) scum, who might use it to their advantage. it is possible to deliberately cause lag, whebn you are the host. the result might be fatal.

judging by the videos i have seen, the game depends on timing and using the right combos / combo-breakers. so you might say, that personal skill is an important factor. in addition, the executions and taunts used by .... "special gamers", might trigger abuse and forced disconnects. at least, people might flame a very good playing host, just because he was the host and won - ewven if it is clear, that he won because of skill.

dedicated servers simply are safer and easier to monitor (anti cheat engines). if people have a lousy connection, they will suffer and not everybody in the match.


the only advantage p2p-servers have, is the circumstance that they are free. but tbh ... investing in dedicated servers is better, than loosing players to lousy "servers". leavers might have brought the game but leavers on cosole resell teir copy or get a refund from microsoft and sony. every resold copy is one ordinary copy less sold by ubisoft.
