I was thinking that it would be cool if we had like an unlimited health type duel mode. Like the knights pick up wooden swords and practice. That way you can keep training your skills, learn timings and practice combos against a player or AI without the long pauses between games. What do you guys think?
Currently you can do 1v1 against a bot and set no damage and unlimited time. However, the bot can still die from environmental hazards, so you will want to set the number of rounds to 99. This is how I've been practicing.
However, that isn't a true training mode and I agree that this game would really benefit from one. A proper training mode would have no environmental hazards. Having the ability to change the bot's behavior from the pause menu would be very helpful. For example, make it stand still and not locked on so you can practice combos, or relentlessly attack so you can practice dodges and counters. Use a flat, textureless room for fast loading so you can switch characters quickly. The ability to add and remove bots on the fly to practice 2/3/4v1.
I would love a true practice mode like that. And even better would be the ability to allow other players to join you as opponents or allies.
EDIT: My bad, there is a dedicated training mode! It's lurking in the How to Play menu. However, I would still love to see a fully fleshed out training mode as listed above. The current version is okay, but I prefer unlimited life bars and being able to control the behavior of my opponent. Fingers crossed that the devs will grant us such a mode in the future!
If you really want to polish your skills and practice your timing then ask one of your friend to sparring. Thats the best solution, worked for me instantly and im no longer limited to light and strong attacks ^^Originally Posted by GardiusMaximus Go to original post
When I played the closed alpha I too wanted a better training mode. I wanted to play as the Conqueror, but that training mode doesn't clue you in to some of his combos and special moves, much less even the Warden (starter character!). Being able to go in quickly and customize how you want to train with whatever hero you wanted to train with would be very helpful, especially if you can do it against AI; not everyone has a buddy they can call up in a moments notice just so they can swat one another for 30 minutes. This game would do well to have such a thing, and it doesn't seem like it would be difficult to chalk up.
This is literally exactly what I did throughout the patch, and throughout the patch I could do nothing but exclaim how much I wished something like this training idea existed. When you're in the process of teaching someone the game for the first time, it can be somewhat discouraging for them to constantly see their blood being spilled and what not (even if it is just virtual)Originally Posted by RaV--PL Go to original post
The convenience of a highly customizable training mode is a major boon for high level fighting games, which I consider this game to be. Sure its not necessary, but it sure as hell wouldn't hurt the game right?
Heck the developers could go a step farther and give each faction their own little training ring. The vikings could have a circle of people cheering and shouting and the people sparring. The samurai would obviously get some sort of dojo. The knights could have a barracks or something I dunno. It would just fit well is all I'm saying.
that reminds me a lot during my hardcore training in takken series, i think for honor truly deserve a similar training mode as you mentionedOriginally Posted by AgentAz Go to original post
a highly costomisable private mode should do the trick as well.
basically duels against bots, with selectable class to plaz against. this should be the minimum. it would be really nice to have full bot matches, without other players on the same team.
the best solution would be a combination of a costomisable bot match and a true sparring arena.
