Hello , I am using an Intel 2.5 OC to 3.0 with a 40g 7200 8 cache HD with a single stick of 512 2700 DDR Ram as a server ( Host ) for online FB play , I have the Video card set to it's lowest settings ,, But I am not sure if I should get another stick of 512 or not ? And are there any other tricks that I should know about in the settings to help this sever run better - Thank You - JK-1

I can't answer the question as it relates to server duties beyond telling you that just for regular gameplay, you'd want 1 Gig of RAM. So I guess you'll want to wait for smart people (not me) to respond to your question.

Hello Luckyboy1 ,
I do understand the amount of Ram that FB use's , All the Gaming computer's that I build nowadays have 2G of Ram in them , But this is my first shot at a Server machine and I know that some of the requirements are different then with a gaming computer, But I am at a lost of which requirements they might be .
I guess I should of paid more attention to the Server questions over the last three years of reading these post's - LOL , Have a Great Day - JK-1

That's why I hesitate in telling you to to buy the RAM. I try to repect people's money and not advise unnecessary upgrades. I spoke with my IT friend who works for rhe spammer and he gave a very non-committed answer. When you host, you are dumping your data to a mirror like HyperLobby or UBI or whatever. This is true unless you directly host and then maybe the answer would be different. The question pinging around in my pea sized brain is , ok, if so, then does the HyperLobby server just ask for the information once from you when loading, or does it mirror it back to you again for final resolution then report back to the other players. I don't know the nuts and bolts on how this actually works. It would be great to hear from someone who knows exactly the process involved in order to get a clear answer to your question.
However, if you are building systems all the time, try adding RAM to one and see if it helps. If it doesn't help, use the RAM on another system you're building. If you do try this, please let us know the results!

After reading my post again , I am not sure if I am using the correct Terminology , So I will explane in a little better detail . I am hosting on HL and UBI as a Dedicated Computer (or Server ? ) to host the game and I will be playing on my Gaming machine and enter like any other player , So I am not sure if this Constitutes itself to be a Server or just a Hosting computer ? I am getting myself really Confused - LOL -

Hey Jim. If using a full install you'll need more than 512 for hosting or it will get slow over time. IF using the DS when it comes out 512 is fine.
