Reading Keeba's response, it sounds like they actually did! Provided my interpretation is correct, I took it to mean you switch hands when you switch camera shoulder views.Originally Posted by Lolssi Go to original post
Since we have a few vets in here, I'd be remiss if I didn't ask what my fate would be in the actual military. I imagine militaries aren't in the habit of handing out left handed weapons. Unless I'm mistaken on that front, it seems like my options would be: learn to shoot righty (I've had to learn to do most things righty already anyway) or deal with hot spent cases ejecting an inch away from my face.
Well, if you're talking US military then...yeah you'd be sort of screwed with the M4/M16. Its really not so bad though if you're wearing eye pro and have your uniform tightened up (pop and buckle down that mandarin collar) it's not a big deal. Ambidextrous shooting is a necessary skill though.Originally Posted by MATT-HARPRING Go to original post
I'm not even going to lie... I didn't pay attention to the hands when I was playing. :/ I just know that you can swap the shoulder views. Next time I get the chance, I'll look at it for you, thoughOriginally Posted by MATT-HARPRING Go to original post![]()
Thanks! It's great to know we can switch the shoulder the camera hangs over regardless. I have to say the community team is really on the ball, thanks for all the info.Originally Posted by UbiKeeba Go to original post
It's honestly a really weird thing in general. When I see someone IRL perform an activity left handed it takes me a minute to compute. "Something's not right here, why does that look weird? OH! They're left handed!"
It took me about 15 minutes to figure out Sheva was left handed in RE5. Then another half an hour to adjust. I'm so accustomed to compensating for it in my head that I had to break the habit. Once I got used to it, it was a revelation to feel that natural with the character I'm playing as.
Apologies if I'm coming off as overly adamant or a crusader for left hands matter or whatever. I appreciate all the info I received from everyone (maybe less so for the missile-****ed robot; but that was a pretty good laugh). I'm excited for GRW no matter which hand we hold the weapon in.
Thanks again!
That's more or less what I figured. The one time I shot an M4 I didn't have eye protection and it was a little off putting having the rounds eject so close to my face when I was intently trying to aim through the scope.Originally Posted by DanHibikiFanXM Go to original post
Do lefty's just tend to become totally proficient right handed? To the point where they'd just use the weapon righty anyway after awhile? At this point, I'm imagining that's probably what I'd do anyway given my options (even if I'm naturally a pretty good shot left handed). On the other hand (ha!), I can imagine it would be a boon to a squad to have someone be proficient at shooting left handed (stacking up on doors, covering an alternate side more naturally).
Most guys just didn't care and shot lefty from what I remember. Ambidextrous shooting is just a basic shooting skill imo since it's hard to shoot around a left corner from your right shoulder and vice versa. I suppose being a gunner for a vic or a M240B gunner would eliminate lefty shooting concerns...problem then is you'd be stuck in a truck or have to lug around an incredibly heavy machine gun. Either isn't a great option lol. 😅Originally Posted by MATT-HARPRING Go to original post
