Sorry but having played GRP for over 3 years and getting to 125th rank (with over 200 ping -I could've topped this if their servers weren't made of potatoes) it wasn't the best of what the Ghost Recon franchise can offer.
I'm not going to read through 4 pages of comments but even though the game promoted taking cover at the same time taking cover could put you at a huge disadvantage. I'm not even over-reacting, a lot of the top players knew this.
The matchmaking was terrible when the playerbase was dropping and you were punished for being a top tier player by having total beginners put on your side. Which meant you had to carry the team. Which is non-sense for a team orientated tactical shooter.
The weapon ready times were removed and the game was turned into run-and-gun. There was sliding and shooting with pin point accuracy. Seriously?
The anti-hack was non-existent.
They started giving extra damage mitigation and HP for players who died 3 times in a row. Which other game rewards players for dying?
The game did promote team-play by rewarding players who used skills in sync and moved forward as a team, flank and occupy enemy territory while your team capped the points. Which were all good fun.
As a game it was fun to play. But it was a disgrace to the Tom Clancy franchise and was a failure in its last year, hence it shut down.
I don't want another Ghost Recon where I'm at a disadvantage for being in cover, nor a Ghost Recon where I can magically slide on all surfaces like it's ice and shoot at the same time
Now I know the team at Ubisoft Singapore (which made grp) is working on a new title, it could be the new PvP mode for this. Perhaps Keeba could enlighten us![]()
I wrote this in another thread tonight, but it applies here. Merry X-Mas.
I'm down on myself that it took me this long to realize this, but there's not going to be any traditional GR PvP in this game. The marketing line that goes something like "we cannot discuss this at this time" is not only deceptive, it's the best, legal way for Ubisoft to retain those interested. It's genius really, it's a "no, there is no PvP" answer that puts people like me under an illusion, continuing to think there's hope, or it's coming. This happened with single player in R6 Siege (same language). There's absolutely no reason to think anything otherwise. I feel so stupid! Here I was googling "Ghost Recon Wildlands" every other day just to see if any word on PvP, for what seems like a year. How stupid can an adult approaching their forties really be?
In other news, since coming to terms with this, I just bought GRAW: 2 for the FOURTH time since 2007 online tonight, and an Xbox 360, new from Toys R Us online for $100. Since the old days (NES, SNES, Genesis), once the new system comes out, the other one is gone for good. I hate to be bringing an Xbox 360 back into my living room, but I want Ghost Recon. Way too much time wasted asking about it online in social media and posting here when I could have just been playing GRAW: 2 all along.
Ghost Recon machine.
If it was the same as Rainbow Six those with huge ping latency have a massive advantage.Originally Posted by mezzatron Go to original post
