What the hell are you guys doing to this game? The stability, performance and the amount of bugs and glitches are worse than ever before in this game, you are literally developing this game backwards. Did the devs who know the code leave the team, are they on vacation, or did you just stop caring? Didn't Guillemot even apologize for the buggy release of AC Unity, promising that this would never happen again? Well, here we are.
Don't get me wrong, there have been some great gameplay and loot changes, and I appreciate them, but this game is almost unplayable at this point, let alone enjoyable.
Just a selection of all the bugs, glitches, and other nonsense I came across since 1.5:
- Losing control of your character
This is straight up game breaking for me, and it makes you want to break your desk in half when it happens, especially in pvp situations. Sometimes it's just a little mouse glitch, like half a second delay, but most of the time I am losing complete control over my character and he just keeps on doing what he was doing for 5-10 seconds. Most of the time, this means running straight into a wall. This happens around every 10 minutes now for me, and it's completely unacceptable. This is a shooter game, it needs to feel precise and direct, losing complete control over your character is pure frustration.
- Constant Mike & Delta Errors
They have gotten a little less since the first days of 1.5, but they are still there. I mean you made more than 300 Million Dollar revenue with this game, just in the first week. Is there no budget left to rent/buy some proper servers again? You pretend the player numbers are back to launch level ( which we all know is bs .. ), but unfortunately your state of the game is back to launch or actually pre-launch level as well. It's a broken mess.
- Random game crashes
You just want to port somewhere, the game freezes. In a game that's out for 8 months now, this should not be happening to this degree. It only happened 3 times to me with 1.5, but that's 3 times more than in 1.4. In a AAA game you can expect some stability, at least in theory.
- Cheaters are back in full effect
Since the player numbers went up again, of course our favourite lowlifes are back as well, the cheaters. Every day I see at least one in the DZ, reporting seems kind of useless, I don't feel you guys are doing anything on this, except for your streamer buddies. How can you actually release a pvp game for pc, that has zero anti cheat measures in place and where everything is processed client based?
I get it, you worked on the consoles version first, which is why we have also have to deal with this horribly clunky console UI, but if you make the commitment to develop a PC version, you need an anti cheat system in place. Even more so with your game, as the DZ is basically a formal invitation for bullies to f*ck up the playground. Of course an anti cheat system means an investment, but cheaters in your game mean a loss of your player base, and in the end this will hurt you much more financially. Every 2nd person on my friends list refuses to go into the DZ, because either they don't want to be around cheaters ( who could blame them .. ), or they are just sick of getting abused by rogues. This leads me straight to my next point:
- The infinite stupidity of the rogue system
Not only is the system itself a pure joke, what's even worse is, that you can't prevent to accidentally go rogue. In almost any fight between 2-3 groups, 1 group will accidentally turn rogue. If you're really lucky, the ones around understand that it was an accident and won't attack, but that's more the exception than the rule. Most of the time it will take 1-2 seconds until everyone starts firing at you. This is so ret*rded, it's almost comedy. I mean pvp in the Division feels like some Benny Hill skit anyway, everybody is running and jumping around like stung by a bee, but when groups that fought together are turning against each other simply because of a broken game mechanic, the comedy turns into tragedy.
We need some sort of switch, to choose whether we want to attack anyone, or just rogues Other players would be treated like your group members, no friendly fire. Maybe there are even better ideas floating around this forum, but please do smth about this. In its current state it's hard to call that pvp, it's a very sad joke.
- Character restore
Luckily this happened only once, but this is nothing you want to read in a game, where you invested hundreds of hours into a character. Basically I couldn't log in anymore, and after waiting it out a few times, at some point the game offered me the following dialogue ( from memory, maybe not 100% accurate ): "Your characters are currently locked due to a server issue, would you like to restore an earlier version of your character?"
No Massive, I didn't want to, but in the end I didn't have a choice, as I couldn't get rid of this dialogue. Luckily it only rolled back a few minutes, but if you can't even store our characters properly, my hopes for having solid servers again is slowly fading.
- Game files damaged
Happened once, some missing .dll file. I needed to verify the game's files once, and it was working again, but 8 months after release, files should not simply disappear from your installation. Not game breaking, but annoying.
- Mission Bugs / Restock not working, Larae stuck
Like pretty much anyone these days, I am farming Lexington and Napalm at the moment, and just like anyone, pretty much without any drop luck so far. But that's not the point, I can handle low drop chances, played d3 long enough. However, there are bugs in these missions that were not there before, like every 2nd restock crate not working. It doesn't affect everyone, but it always affects me, at least in Lexington. Speaking of Lexington, I guess everyone farming it has seen Larae getting stuck in her control room, or whatever this magic room without doors is. Yes, most of the time we can loot stuff through the wall upstairs, but sometimes we can't. Fix this, it's terrible. I heard Bliss is also bugged somehow, but I haven't played that one since 1.5, so can't say much about it.
- Connectivity issues
Some players are experiencing strange connectivity issues, constantly shown as offline by the system, although they are still there and can even talk to the team. Sometimes however, they can not hear what other players in the DZ are talking, which I guess is also related to this connectivity issue.
- Buggy D3 Frontline set
I really really enjoy playing this set, at least in theory. It's finally a different play style and is a great addition to bring more set variety to the game. However, the set is a total mess at the moment. I don't even know where to begin. The general feeling of the set is extremely sluggish, sometimes he drops the shield for no reason, sometimes he shows holding the shield but bullets go right through, dowing me in 2 seconds, without the shield health bar showing any decrease.
And what about the secondary weapon and side arm? I know you said the fact you can't use the pistol is intentional, but a) That doesn't make any sense whatsoever, and b) the behaviour is still inconsistent then.
When you take cover or lean against a wall, you can actually switch to sidearm or pistol at times, but sometimes you can't. So please tell us, what is the expected behaviour here, as currently, it's definitely bugged. And if we can't use any other weapon than the smg, what's the purpose of the other 2 weapons then? Seems like a conceptual flaw to me.
Oh yeah, and apparently some people can even crit with this set, unfortunately not me.
- Skills being delayed or not activated at all
I guess we all came across the delayed heals, but sometimes skills can simply not be triggered at all. Happened 30 minutes ago in the DZ, everytime I press the button for my seeker mine, the target area lights up for a millisecond and disappears again. Even double triggering to just drop it won't work, the mine didn't want to leave my pocket. Needless to say that this got me killed in the end, so thank you for that Massive.
- Difficulty randomness / ridiculous amounts of enemies
I don't know what this one is all about, but it's also annoying as hell. Sometimes I leave the DZ to quickly port to the base to roll a weapon or smth similar. But as soon as you open the door, you are in the middle of world war 3. This happened 4-5 times now, and there are easily 30-50 NPCs fighting each other for no obvious reason. As far as I could see, they are always from the same faction, it seems their only purpose is to p*ss me off and steal 2 minutes of my life.
What do I mean with difficulty randomness? I guess a lot of you also experienced this in the past. Sometimes you easily kill 3-4 elite enemies and take moderate damage from them, and sometimes you get melted by just one npc, as if your toughness was cut in half. I don't know if that is some sort of equipment bug or if you are playing around with the numbers, but whatever it is, please fix it.
I guess most of these bugs are connected to the horrible server performance since 1.5, but the really frustrating part about this is, that you shy away from even acknowledging these issues. You made a right step in the past, and now you simply need to do it again. Just admit you f*cked up and focus on a bug fix update. I guess most people couldn't care less about the last expansion, people stopped playing survival already. What people want is a solid and stable shooter-looter, that feels just as great as it looks.
Thank you.
