    Me too!

I have the same issue, its as though my hard drive isn't working upon exiting watch dogs 2. Any software in ram seems ok, discord carries on unaffected but once the disk is accessed by software it crashes and the machine can only be rebooted physically by the reset button on the case.

    Also running W10 x64 anniversary edition build 14393.576, but 32gb ram, i7 3700k, GTX1080 Driver v376.48

    Yea, could anyone confirm?

I can confirm that task manager doesn't fix this issue. I started the game while task manager was running, then exited the game, windows became unresponsive. While ram and cpu usage was higher than normal, there was no watch_dogs.exe (or anything like that) process to end. So had to do the same cold restart by clicking the restart key on the case.

Hey guys, sorry to necro this thread. I don't own Watch_Dogs 2, although I did play the original. I've got a similar problem in a different game (Mass Effect Andromeda). I know, sorry, different game, but I'm experiencing exactly the same issues everyone in this thread has had. I'm running the latest drivers (382.05 , as of now) on a ASUS GTX 1070 ROG Strix 8GB OC, i5 3570k @ 4.2 Ghz, 16GB RAM, Windows 10 Pro 64-bit. These issues have happened since I updated to the latest Geforce drivers: I exit the game, Windows seems sluggish, browser becomes unresponsive, opening Task Manager shows 100% CPU activity, but no processes are reporting any CPU usage. Attempting to close programs does nothing, and eventually Task Manager becomes unresponsive, as well as the rest of Windows. While I can move the mouse around and right click, I can't do much with it. Taskbar icons disappear, and I can't restart the PC unless I hit the hard reset button on my case.

I've tried quitting explorer.exe and letting it restart, to no avail. I've had issues with DWM.exe in the past, and I've resolved it by ending dwm.exe through task manager and letting it restart itself. I fixed that with a repair install of Windows 10. I just today repair installed Windows 10, and it didn't solve anything, so I don't think it's a Windows issue, unless it is... But I haven't had any problems with the "Creators Update" to Windows 10, and I've had it installed for over two weeks, no issues.

I found a thread on the Geforce forums, where people are reporting a similar issue: https://forums.geforce.com/default/t...ting-a-game/1/
It's an older thread, but the experiences people have had are similar to mine and what people have reported in this thread.

I'm going to try a clean install of my Geforce drivers right now, using DDU. I'm going to try a clean install of the latest drivers first (382.05) and if that doesn't work, then I'll try a clean install of the last known good (for me) drivers (381.65). If that doesn't work... then I don't know. I suppose it could be hardware, as this is an aging system, but these problems have arisen sort of out of nowhere...

Anyway, sorry again for the necro post and if this derails the thread, since I've had this experience with an unrelated game. It's just that it's all I've been playing recently, and I'd like to finish it. Plus, I have reason to believe this might be a driver-related issue, so if this helps anyone, then maybe that's a good thing.

--update: Well, that didn't work. I was just about to post on the Geforce forum, in that thread I linked, that clean installing a slightly older driver (381.65) fixed my issue, but it's still there. I just came back from a reboot... I'd just exited the game, checked task manager, everything seemed fine. Then I started Chrome, went to the Geforce forum, tried to post an update there, but couldn't log in. I don't know if their forums went down or they're having login issues, but anyway, I opened another tab to double check my password, went back...things got laggy, slow--so I closed Chrome, or tried to.. the icon was still active in my taskbar. I loaded up task manager...and all the processes were frozen, just like before. So I'm at a loss as to what to do now. I could try repair installing Windows again... probably won't do any good. I could try creating a new user profile, but I kind of don't wanna. I don't think it's an incompatibility between the Creator's Update and my Geforce driver, since it's the same driver I was using when I installed the Creator's Update, and I wasn't having any problems until just recently. The only other thing I could think of that updated recently was a new version of Chrome, and also my Avast antivirus. I'm seriously considering getting rid of that bloated AV... I've already tried uninstalling Chrome and reinstalling, but maybe I'll try the same with my antivirus, only maybe I'll leave it uninstalled and just use Defender.
Sorry to post here again, but I'm unable to log into the Geforce forum and I felt like I needed to post this somewhere.

---2nd update: I uninstalled my antivirus, which was Avast. I'm using Windows Defender now. It was the only other program I'd updated this past week. I've read some reports that it was causing issues launching some games, as well. So, I think uninstalling Avast solved whatever issue I was having. It might not work for everybody, particularly if you're not even using Avast. I guess reinstalling Avast might be okay, but I'm just going to not use it for now. It seems like it's been hogging more resources than usual and doing a lot of writes to my hard drive. So anyway, I'll just leave this here.

    Hi!

I thought I stop by and share this little info with all of you...
The culprit is Windows 10 Creator's Update, no wonder most of the games can freeze up just the same way

Hold on and wait for MC to fix this $ß!@.
