- On PC, you can check and rebind the keys in GAME MENU > Options > Controls > Key Mapping
SKI & SNOWBOARD
- If you are riding backward, just push LEFT and RIGHT STICK in opposite direction to switch forward. Press A+L or D+J on PC
TRICKS
- If you want to know more about the tricks system in STEEP, check this 101 tutorial video:
- You can even control the speed of your rotations. Push LEFT or RIGHT STICK gently to perform classy rotations! On PC the speed of rotations depends on how long you hold the key.
- There is an assist in the tricks system preventing you from triggering a 360° vertical rotation if you don’t have enough height to complete it, which would lead to an inevitable fall. It’s signaled by the feedback “Not Enough Height”. It’s activated by default, but you can switch it OFF in the OPTIONS menu.
SCORING
• You have 3 ways of scoring in STEEP, check the scoring HUD
- FREESTYLE points (yellow) are earned by performing jumps and tricks
- FREERIDE points (dark blue) are earned by riding reliefs and crest lines
- EXTREME points (orange) are earned by passing close to obstacles and trees, jumping off cliffs and flying close to the ground
- Wingsuit and paraglide will only score EXTREME points
PLAYSTYLE
- There are 6 playstyles in the game: Freestyler, Freerider, Extreme Rider, Pro Rider, Bone Collector and Explorer.
- Playstyles define what type of rider you are to others, and you can progress in a playstyle by completing CHALLENGES, MOUNTAIN STORIES or performing MEMORABLE ACTIONS during your ride.
- Check the PROFILE page in the GAME MENU to know more about the playstyles and your current status.
- The color code you can see for each CHALLENGE or MOUNTAIN STORY is associated with each playstyle, so you can know which ones will make you progress in a specific playstyle:
- Yellow = Freestyler
- Orange = Extreme Rider
- Light Blue = Pro Rider
- Dark Blue = Freerider
- Green = Explorer
- Black = Bone Collector

GROUP AND PLAY WITH OTHERS
- You’ll meet other players in the mountains. If you want to play together, get close enough to each other and press the SQUARE/X button, G on PC, that will appear below the other player’s name. You will be then GROUPED.
- Go to the SOCIAL page of the GAME MENU to group with your friends.
- Grouping together will allow you to share your discoveries, as well as your own trail challenges for the duration of your session together.
- You’ll also be able to compete in any of the CHALLENGES available in your session, and prove to the group who’s the best!

TRAILS
- Every ride generates a TRAIL in the MOUNTAIN VIEW.
- You can look at all the TRAILS generated during your session by using DPAD LEFT, Z on PC, in the MOUNTAIN VIEW.
- With the cursor, you can select a specific DOT on any of the TRAILS displayed and you can press CROSS/A, LMB or C on PC, to spawn at this position. It’s the perfect way to create shortcuts and avoid pressing TRIANGLE/Y (TAB on PC) to retry from the beginning. It’s useful for getting through some of the MOUNTAIN STORIES!
SHARING A TRAIL/CHALLENGE
- Select a TRAIL with the cursor and press SQUARE/X, RMB or Space on PC, to check the interactions you can perform on it. From any TRAIL you can:
- Watch REPLAYS!
- Create your own CHALLENGE!
- Share the TRAIL with your friends to show a particular spot, or share your REPLAY (you can only share one at a time).
- Save the TRAIL so that it won’t be deleted at the end of the session.

DARE YOUR FRIENDS!
- Once you have created your own CHALLENGE, it’s not yet SHARED to your friends.
- You can keep on improving your performance, or select this created challenge, open the INTERACTION MENU (SQUARE/X/ RMB or Space on PC) and from here you can DARE YOUR FRIENDS!
- A leaderboard will then be created to check who’s the boss among your friends!
- Note that you can only DARE your friends on 1 challenge at the time, but you can replace it whenever you want.
SHARE YOUR CREATIONS!
- We can’t wait to see your REPLAYS! Use the video and screenshots sharing function of your consoles or PC to share them with us.
- If you want to broadcast your videos on YOUTUBE, please make sure to remove any music under copyright first by opening the GAME MENU > Options > Audio Options > Turn “Play Music under copyright” Off.
- Tag it with #SteepCommunity and #SteepGame, and include your Uplay username so we can push it to our official channels later.
How to share videos on Xbox One
- Download Upload Studio from the Store.
- Select Upload Studio from My games & apps.
- Select manage your clips.
- Highlight the clip to edit, and then select Edit in Upload Studio
- Follow the editing process to complete your clip, and then select Finish.
- As the final editing step, provide a title and tag for your clip.
- Select Upload and then Next.
- Select Upload. Xbox One renders and uploads your clip to Xbox Live, One Drive or Twitter.
How to share videos on PS4
Video of the most recent 15 minutes of gameplay is continuously and automatically recorded.
- You can save gameplay as a video clip by pressings the SHARE button, and then press the square button.
- Select a video from the ones you recorded.
- Choose where you want to upload it Facebook, YouTube or Dailymotion.
How to record PC Gameplay with Windows 10’s Game DVR
- To record a video, open the Game Bar with Windows Key + G and then click the red record button. A timer will appear at the top-right corner of your game window while it’s recording
- To stop recording the window, bring up the Game Bar again and click the red stop button.
- You can also start and stop recordings with Windows Key + Alt + R.
Take a Game Screenshot
- Use the Game Bar to quickly take a screenshot by clicking the screenshot icon at the center of the game bar. Or, press Windows Key + Alt + Print Screen to take a screenshot of the current game.
DID YOU KNOW?
- You can change the time of day when you are in the MOUNTAIN VIEW or STOPPED on the mountain with DPAD UP, F3 on PC.
- DPAD UP, R on PC, when you are riding or flying triggers FALL ON DEMAND! Have fun with this one!
- You can switch to GoPro camera by pressing L1/LB, 3 on PC.
- If you hold L1/LB, press 2 on PC, you will switch to an EXPLORATION CAMERA, you control it with RIGHT STICK, IJKL on PC.
- Costumes and funny helmets have their own unique voices, shouts and taunts. Press A/X, T on PC, when you are riding to shout. Short press for a positive shout, long press for a negative.
- If you are grouped with other players, you can switch to another point of view during REPLAY by pressing DPAD RIGHT, W or S on PC: It’s a great way to improve your videos!
Beware of the Dummy Costume!
Don’t be surprised by the way we designed the dummy costume: every time you’ll taunt – pressing the X/A button – you’ll fall! There is nothing wrong with that![]()

Where is my Moonlight pack content?
You get the Moonlight pack:
- If you pre-ordered Steep – The Moonlight pack content is then available now. Items are to be unlocked by completing the Moonlight pack challenges though.
- With the season pass or Steep Gold Edition – The Moonlight pack will then be available when we’ll release the Adrenaline pack later next year.
