the pellet is the projecticle not the shell

    1 trigger pull = 1 shell = 8 pellets
why shotguns are considered semi-auto and not burst fire?

You have to be smarter than that! A burst fire weapon is multiple rounds fired with one trigger pull. (Or in another term. It will eject more the one brass casing when fired) A shot gun is a one blast with a trigger pull that contains multiple B.B.s. As far as I know the only Auto shotgun is "The Show Stop".

Because semi auto means the firearm discharges once with a single pull of the trigger. Burst means it discharges multiple times per pull of the trigger.

in the game..not real life. I don't need a technical explanation
considering shotguns semi-auto ruined every sniper set

marking with a shotgun is a joke, a balanced HS bonus applied to DMRs becomes OP if applied to shotguns

How so, it is not like you can mark someone from any real distance. A pistol will mark someone at a longer range than a shotgun.
