Well in that case let's do it!

What I would have preferred for survival :

    - remove disease, change it to a timer to reach the helicopter before the blizzard make it impossible to approach.
    - make cold weather more difficult to overcome (with the current implementation those 12+ coldness clothes remove cold management past half game)
    - make chest respawn after ~4minutes.

PvE (race against the clock) : single player / 4-men coop (the same as story mission), but with a hall of fame : sorted by duration for those how managed to extract with virus intel. Reset each week, win a cache if you break the current minimum time.

PvP : 4x4 men servers and 24 solo servers, can't join mid-game. Everybody start with blue gears and a M4. More mats but you can't craft purple or HE. The game stop after the first team manage to extract.

I'd like to be able to simply activate 'Survival mode'.

This. This is what I've wanted for awhile now. With the addition of survival and having played a few survival runs it has made me realize just how fun this could be. When you enter your map and select "World Tier" you'd also have the option to toggle on "Survival". Much like other RPGs like Fallout: NV's Hardcore(not sure if that was what it was called) you would simply turn on the "Survival" aspect and it would transform your instance of New York into lethal wasteland where there are more than just NPCs trying to kill you. Suddenly while completing Queens Tunnel Camp you'd also have to manage your temperature, hunger, thirst and maybe even persistent status effects. Frag grenade blew up in your face and now you're bleeding? Better use a medkit before you bleedout. In addition this mode could also offer a score multiplier much like the PVP survival does. When playing in the vanilla world you earn field caches as normal, but in survival you could earn experience at 1.2x the amount and be reward with Field Caches slightly more frequently.

One of the biggest let downs of the current survival is we can't use the gear we worked so hard for. Instead we are thrown in with nothing and forced to farm for better gear every play-through. Gear that inevitably gets thrown in the trash when we die or extract. Some players might argue that difficulty goes out the window when we are able to use all of our 256 gear, but there are fixes for that. Some examples:

    • Enemy difficulty could scale up when "Survival" is toggled on..
    • Institute safeguards that prevent players from achieving 100% protection from the cold. Even with the best possible clothing you still suffer from coldest snow storms.
    • Change Hunger and Thirst debuffs to loss of health per second or your maximum HP is reduced by 25% when hungry.
    • Persistent status effects like Bleedout could get really nasty if not taken care of.

With you 100%! The current Survival feels like a massive wasted opportunity.

It appeals to some so I don't think it's a failure, but it could have had a much broader appeal.

Imagine heading to Lincoln Tunnel Checkpoint and being able to choose to replay the story mission, 'Survival' style like you suggest, (love that idea BTW), or choose 'Survival encounter' and battle hunters to recover lost virus data from within the mission area!

Oh, for what could have been!

You mean, it feels the same as the DZ ? a Massive mistake ?

TBH what disappoint me most is that I played during 1.5 PTS, and I "spoiled" my survival experience. I really expected 1.5 PTS to be just a glimps of survival DLC, and I expected that it last longer to balance gears.

it seems that Ubisoft wanted the DLC to be released before black friday, so the PTS was just a small debug week of test, to continue with the "hype" they managed to get with PTS 1.4.

You know, that hadn't occurred to me, but now you mention it, it makes perfect sense.

I'm on PS4 but played Survival PTS on a friends PC and was so disappointed!

The upside is I won't be wasting the space on my PS4s HD. The bad news is, that's a third of the money I spent on the SP down the drain and no new content until Last Stand. Whenever that will be! If I'm even still playing by then!
