Trying to update Far Cry 4 but it starts loading for a few seconds then I get anerror

Hi, I've been trying to update Far Cry 4 as I've bought the game recently. Initially my AV would pick it up as an infected file when I would try to update it. I had turned it off but it still seems to stop after a few seconds of downloading. The error I get is "Uplay is unable to start your download. Check that you have an active internet connection and sufficient space on your hard drive then try again." I have both requirements and I've also tried running Uplay as admin but it still doesn't seem to work. It is making slow progression as it does downloads for a few seconds so I'm currently on 530Mb but having to keep pressing start download every time I get the error is annoying. Any help would be much appreciated!

also if you bought the game digitally there is no update to the game..... last patch (version 1.10.0 ) came out over a year ago in April of 2015

both Steam and Uplay will install the latest version of the game (version 1.10.0 )

current and final version of far cry 4 is 1.10.0 (not to be confused with 1.1.0 that version was never released ....shipped version of the game was already 1.2.0 on 11/18/2014 and 1.3. 0 came out several hours after initial release on 11/18/2014 both steam and uplay )

currently both Steam and Uplay will only install the latest version

if you bought the game on DVD...... uplay will need to reinstall the entire game rather then just the updates

there were many patches made available after the game shipped , now the Uplay client will just re install the entire game as several of the patches were several gig in size
so if you bought it on DVD your gonna have to wait for Uplay to Download the entire game ..since it won't use any of the game files from the DVD as they are outdated.

According to the game I have version 1.0.0 and I need to download around 3.5gb of updates. I've tried the troubleshooting methods sent before but they don't seem to work. I bought the game as a digital copy from Amazon.

there was never a 1.0.0 version of the game released to the public ... the night the game shipped it was already at version 1.2.0 for all users ..

go here for a patch history http://forums.ubi.com/showthread.php...ate?p=11918886

and you can verify your patches installed

look in your far cry 4 \ support \ read me folder

you'll find the patch notes for all patches up to version 1.6.0

1.7.0 - 1.10.0 came with no patch notes...... if ya need a patch history go here
    http://forums.ubi.com/showthread.php...ate?p=11918886

if ya bought the game on AMAZON digital you already have the current version 1.10.0

also there is no 3.5 gig update to go from 1.2.0 to 1.10.0 Uplay would reinstall the entire game as all those patches added up would = alot more then 3.5 gig

if you have a black screen problem with the game and think 1.4.0 would help on a dual core system .. its not gonna happen as that patch has already been applied to your game

the thing 1.4.0 fixed had to do with getting a black screen due to certain USB peripherals connected

Dual core CPU's will cause the game to black screen , same thing happens if you have an onboard Intel video chip or a low end or Direct X 9 or 10 GPU

both of those are too far below the minimum system requirements for the game to load

the game will also fail if you have certain backround applications running , or bad video drivers

both Nvidia and AMD have released drivers that can cause far cry 4 not to launch

if ya have an AMD gpu make sure you are not running AMD driver version 15.11

if ya have an Nvidia GPU .. make sure you shut off Nvidia shadow play in geforce experience settings on driver versions 361.75 and a few others .. that was an error Nvidia created in geforce experience and has been corrected in newer drivers

if ya continue to have issue's contact Ubisoft support directly

they can be reached here https://support.ubi.com/en-GB/Contact#en-gb

I went to the support file and a snippet of what I found is below. I don't have a problem with running the game it's just that I can't get the updates from Uplay for the game. I'll just ask the support team. Thanks for the help.

got no idea how you got a pre release version of the game

i bought it the night it shipped on Steam .. game was already @ 1.2.0 a few hrs later got a patch via steam to 1.3.0

my Nephew bought the DVD copy on AMAZON the day it shipped his Uplay only version was 1.2.0 on Install

but yes ask Ubi support ..as something is wrong with the version you have installed ..thats why it will not update ...as it predates the games released version ... ?

DVD copies will be 1.2.0 on install and Uplay will update those to 1.10.0 and reinstall the entire game here in the USA as soon as you log in
