Right now this is the most annoying part about survival.
The purpose of the mode is to take your time to gear up and prepare for the hard fight in the darkzone. But the infection timer is telling you that you need to rush and hurry through everything.
The infection timer is just a bad concept. You need to take time to go through loot actually scavenge stores and actually find NPC but the whole time your timer is just ticking away. Want to craft stuff and see what you can craft timer is ticking.
It's annoying be told I have to rush to the darkzone even though your not geared enough for it.
Either make the infection timer longer or just remove it. I mean we already have to fight the cold hunger thirst and all that.
Really think thats the most annoying part of survival oh and also make materials like tools and all that for everyone. So stupid that I pick up tools and my group member is out of luck cause I already got it.
The only part of survival that needs to change P v P or P v E is the timer, the rest of it is perfectly fine.
Survival should be an ongoing continuous instance (something like Day Z played that for years still have it and play it in PK/P v P servers and P v E servers) with this games area to play in and it's looks and feel Massive would be on to a stonewall winner if they removed the timer and made it an actual game/gamemode that's worth coming back to. Put the infection timer on 48 hours if you cannot remove it.
On the whole Survival is spot on great in both P v P and P v E but for the damn timer you just have to rush everything (you never get to explore and survive to any lengths)
I don't like unfair PvP, I'm neither sadistic nor masochistic so survival PvP / (DZ...) is not made for me.
So unless they change it to a "blue gears only" mode when you start with a pistol and an assault rifle I don't think I'll play it.
About PvE : I don't get the point of the 24-men server for PvE survival. I would have rather a PvE survival like an incursion / story mission, with a solo mode and a coop mode with up to 4-men (and so at least up to 4 hunters).
Having played survival in the PTS : cold management becomes useless past the first 20 minutes which correspond to the moment when sickness management becomes a thing. It's not badly made, I just don't like that things becomes useless and that the "sickness" is different than the "sickness" that caused the devastation of NY.
They could have remove the whole "sickness stuff", make coldness still a thing past mid-game by nerfing the "heating values" of some gears, and just add a 1h timer for the chopper extraction (something like the blizzard becomes too intense so you can't get extracted).
