Ok now that we officially know that the only thing in the survival DLC is the mod how long do you think survival will be fun for?
Honestly I give it like 2 days before people starting giving up because it got so boring and repetitive. And many people will probably stop playing the game all together because outside of the Mod theres nothing else new.
Massive come on do you not understand people are tired of playing Lexington, Russian consulate and all the missions. We've been doing the same stuff in this game for the past 8 months.
Where are:
Raids
Public events
Random encounters
New quests
New story missions
Incursions
They really expect us to play survival over and over and over and over for essentially the next 3-4 months till Last Stand comes out. Why were the free updates we got back in April and May better then the paid updates
They still continue to do nothing for this games open world they actually thought adding the roaming NPC back in would make their open world relevant lol.
Why not have random NPC come up to you and ask you for help giving you random quests
Why not add new activities like every hour or so a public event happens like a helicopter was spotted over Hells kitchen go destroy it.
Rescue civilians from a group of rikers
Everyday randomize loot box locations and update them with gear relevant to world tier so people can scavenge stuff in the open world
Put landmarks in the open world showing locations of extremely violent NPC these are the hardest NPC and reward lots of loot
New activities like Destroy the Hunter lair. Recommend for a group of 4 you are tasked to go and infiltrate a lair of hunters the Hardest of all NPC.
I think survival will add a new, more balanced, battleground (unless exploiters some how figure out how to get high end gear in the survival mode.) I for sure will be going in to be the Hunter.
It's an interesting game mode, but overall the DLC lacks. Where's a new incursion? Where's a new challenge mode for regular mission? Where's heroic mode for all content?
Here is how I see Survival going for me...
1. Run a couple of PvE sessions for the "experience" of it.
2. Run a couple more PvE sessions testing things out.
3. Figure out if Survival for me is worth the loot.
For the amount of time each Survival mission takes (~1 hour at best), I need to determine how much loot I can get versus just farming LZ bosses, daily missions, HVT, hard/challenging mission re-runs, and some UG missions. Obviously, if you are able to extract, then loot per hour from the Survival might be worthwhile. Short of that, I doubt it will be worth it.
Edit - When I get bored with it, I will fire up the PvP version with no intent of even making it to the Dark Zone. I will be in there with the sole purpose of preventing others from reaching the Dark Zone.
I played it once on the PTS and have already made up my mind - I will not be wasting another 60+minutes in there.
I won't even go in there tomorrow for the launch of it. I'd rather go around and farm the open world Bosses, do Lexington, Russian Consulate etc a few times than run Survival a couple of times. I know I'll probably get more loot, more rewards and have more fun.
I may even go to the DZ (which I hate) and farm the odd boss and hope to get a named drop. Even in the open world, there is a chance of named drops so why spend any time in Survival?
If I had not bought Season pass at the beginning I know I wouldn't be buying Survival at all.
Sorry this is just my thoughts and each person has to make up their own minds in this.
I like the pucker effect the Survival game mode can have and the fact we can enter PVE or PVP mode what ever we like, i liked that feel of the game play and thankfully no zombies to deal with.
I do not doubt it will last more than a few weeks depending on people actually sticking with it this time around and not quiting instantly again because they got their feelings hurt over some random thing they experienced with the game.
