So in the spirit of bringing up a healthy discussion, I want to talk about possible future content.
We know that to help the longevity of the game it will need to have content that helps to sustain it. The combat is amazing and surprisingly deep and a ton of fun but at the same time people may get burnt out on the same thing over and over again without something new to keep them enticed.
The thing is that cosmetics will also only get you so far so what else could we possibly hope to see?
IMO New factions aren't something we should hope for because they have explicitly stated in interviews that the fantasy is the 3 warrior legacies of Knights, Vikings, and Samurai. New classes, however, is something that is easy to see happening and since I don't personally believe new factions is something we are going to see anytime soon then it's only logical to think that the new classes are going to fit into the existing factions.
For example, I could easily see some kind of Roman Centurion or some kind of Praetorian joining the knight faction and maybe like a pit fighter or maybe even a gladiator would fit with the Vikings.
What about other content, though?
Like do we want new maps or new modes?
Maybe a rotating mode of the week or perhaps something like Destiny's Iron Banner or Trials of Osiris?
Maybe new story content?
Maybe a hardcore mode with no HUD?
Faction Wars?
Survival modes?
Ranked modes?
Etc
What else could we possibly want as new content (Obviously in the future of the game) that would help us as players to sustain our interest?
Most important for longlivety is a good gamebase. Balanced and Fun gamplay. If this is a solid thing we can start and think of variety in modes and maps. Of course classes and factions are great, too but not that important.I think new modes and maps that don´t split the communety via paid dlc are key here. They can easely give us Maps and Modes for free and make some money with new classes and visual stuff.
I think most people would be pretty bummed if classes are paid dlc.Originally Posted by Illyrianslayer Go to original post
Although I do like the idea of deployable troops as resources for a faction war system.
Ottoman or Mamluk faction seems like it would be pretty appropriate--could draw on prototypical Middle Eastern and Turkic warriors from the middle ages. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mamluk
Or a Mongolian-inspired faction that has classes drawn from all corners of its empire.
Aside from faction-based future content, I'd like to maps, game modes, and increased customization. The more different we can all look from each other while still remaining authentic/realistic the better.
A large-scale faction war system with tangible rewards for winning and some type of scoreboard/rankings would be great as well, if that's not already in. Orders/clans within factions would be cool as well.
Personally do not care at all about extra singleplayer/campaign material.
Things I want that will probably never happen:
- 60 FPS Mode for Consoles or at least PS4 Pro.
Things that I want that I hope will happen:
- Hardcore mode (No HUD for attacks)
- More, better and balanced Items ("Attack" or "Defense" for example make every other stat choice irrelevant,)
- More progression (I really hope this game isn't like COD or BF where you play for a month and progression is pretty much over. Apart from "Prestiege" for extra slots... I saw this in the alpha... lol)
That's about it for my Santa list![]()
I know this is probably an 'in general' example, but I'd rather see a Persian warrior with a scimitar for the Knights and a Celtic type warrior join the Vikings. Samurai I still think should have a Mongolian-esque warrior, so they can have a proper shield class.Originally Posted by handheld brando Go to original post
Yes to both. Maps should be a given. Still want a Siege mode. It seems like a natural fit, and I still don't know why it's not a mode already.Like do we want new maps or new modes?
That would be interesting. I know in one of the Faction v Faction debate threads, it was suggested that the compromise between people who want locked factions and those who don't should be that every weekend, or other weekend, or once a month (or whenever) they have an Iron Banner style event where the factions are locked and the winner(s)---however those would be determined---would get special gear not attainable any other way.Maybe a rotating mode of the week or perhaps something like Destiny's Iron Banner or Trials of Osiris?
Probably, but depending on how the campaign plays out, it might be unnecessary.Maybe new story content?
Yes. Should be an option from the get-go.Maybe a hardcore mode with no HUD?![]()
I hope for options to deepen the bonds within the community:
-> A complex guild system combined with a honor system which gives our online struggles purpose. The wins you earn online should benefit you and your guild, making it possible to buy new object of prestige. I would also be totally down for a Fortress that you and your guild inhabit and keep on developing.
The game itself is at its core quite simplistic. Repetition is not a problem in good games but the feeling that repetition is meaningless, is. With a clan benefitting from the wins you earn online by an honor system, we strengthen comunity bonds and creating massive motivation. Winning matches for your community is something that motivates many players much more than just winning matches for "additional helmet skin number X".
-I also hope for a Siege mode, making that game feel more MOBA-esque, propably linked to the guild/clan mode were the clan creates the very castle it defends.
-Also: More duel-mode options, like team turnaments were clans fight each other in a series of duels: A duelist stays ingame until he is defeated, damage is carried over to the next duel, once he is defeated the next duelist enters the ring. Stuff like that.
I personally do not care about new classes much. It might be nice to get some fresh air into the game after a year or so but i usually pick a main class and stay with it 98% of the game, trying to really master it.
My desires are thus,
- More maps
- More modes (Siege sounds great, Dez's survival dual idea could be good too)
- Expand the story, let us play as the original Wardens, Apollyon, etc. Also, if a new character is to be introduced, I'd like to play through their story.
- Some sort of faction versus faction option
- Hopefully more characters later on (though current selection of 12 will last a long while and are fine)
- More single player/coop friendly content is another hope I have (may also be multiplayer modes that can work as single player / coop too)
- Removal of attack and defense stats from equipment
- Maybe some sort of stat tracking to see how do I do in what mode with what character against what other characters etc.
- More modes in general, something like a siege / onslaught mode would be really nice, where attackers and defenders have dissimilar goals and spawn locations
- An optional faction vs faction mode would be rather nice to have, but with still keeping "pick any mix and match" mode available too.
- Maybe a slight buff on damage dealt by hits by minions. Currently, they seem to be too negligible.
- May be possibility of a spectator player with various camera options. Even though I never got the chance to play the game so far, even just watching it can get pretty intense sometimes, so a spectator to utilize spectacle and machnima potential might be good to have.
- I like the survival idea too, but I guess I've kinda covered that in my "more mods" items above.
