I have nothing against character customization. I don't mind playing a female character as a man either. In Watch Dogs 2 it is however difficult. The character is part of the story line. One of the reasons Marcus becomes part of Dedsec is because he is black, young, male, highly skilled in computer science and from Oakland. Ethnic profiling is the reason that he is accused of crimes he did not commit.

There is a super-simple fix for that, just make Sitara playable for a few missions, just like in the Last of Us or Bioshock

Ubisoft should have had the foresight to let us create a completely custom protagonist, like we do with Mass Effect, Saints Row, etc.
I prefer to play a female character myself. Just how I am and would have preferred an custom option with this game. But I fully understand where the story is. It is about this character. So that is fine with me. Then again I never really cared and worried all about gameplay and story. I am not sure with GTAV but I never saw any upset people with those main characters so maybe you could be a female. Same with Tomb Raider, Uncharted, etc. I am not sure any of those gave the option. I played them but did not look.

Just gonna throw in my hat on this argument.

    Stop whining.

Seriously, I get wanting to play as a character that you can relate to more. I get having options in the avatar that's representing you. But this is a very story-driven single-player game. First of all, the amount of time to create female art assets for every version of the male art assets for players in a game like this is simply not worth it from a game production standpoint. And if you did have the option, it would be only for your online avatar which is only visible to other players and not yourself.

Now, I know most Ubisoft games tend to have male protagonists, and I can get that frustration very well. The only female protagonists I've seen in Ubisoft games is Evie Frye from AC Syndicate and Aveline de Grandpré from AC Liberation. But I want to remind you that these are creative decisions, and I can completely understand them in the AC games as they are based on historic times and in historic times, a woman just simply could not be taken seriously all that much (sorry but those were the times). They are entitled to their creative decisions and have the right to do what they want with their characters.

That said, they should release more games with female protagonists in their games.

And I would also to remind everyone here that most people who play games don't care what gender they play, evident from titles like Tomb Raider, Witcher and Halo where players of both genders praise the game and enjoy them to this date. What we have here is a very vocal minority of players voicing their opinions (however valid or invalid they may be) about this game.
