None of those things are junk or obsolete. They are controllers that suit best for certain games.

Dino to ride? What? I love how you are calling other people elitest when you were talking about how the keyboard and mouse are superior.

None of these games advertise that you HAVE to use a certain controller. Its just common sense man. When multiple people disagree with you. Maybe you should think about what they are saying. Maybe take a bit of advice from people who are clearly years and years older than u.
Thanks man, I was just about to reply to him again but realised I'm talking to some stubborn teenager hubris that just won't ever listen to experience.
If a keyboard would be the be all, end all manner of controlling things in our world, we would have just a keyboard in our cars, airplanes, boats, excavators, VR experiences and the list goes on.

The sooner he can realise the alternative control systems are there for a reason, the better for him. Even saying that I'm just a mindless hoarder of "obsolete gaming products" that just fell for the advertisements cracks me up!

I'm a product developer myself designing furniture in solidworks for a living, using a 3D spacemouse to maneuver my models. With his logic that's also just an advertisement spoof with no worth, as the almighty keyboard would be BETTER to control it! Woop Woop!

Some people are just too funny.

I hope he replaces the wheel and pedals in his future car with a keyboard as it's obviously the one and only superior control tool. That it was designed to enter text and nothing else is beyond him obviously.

For every game there is a device that just works better than the others. Seriously, just because it is a PC game, doesn`t mean that it need Keyboard and Mouse as top input device.
You can`t make a game where every controling device gives the same feeling/control. This kind of games are better played with a controler. Doesn`t mean you need to buy one (but seriously, which pc gamer doesn`t have a controler?), but then you don`t need to whine about the controls when you just could use the better device.
I don`t whine that RTS games haven`t good controller controls...or Counter Strike...or Dota.

I agree with u hating to teleport everywhere it does suck and doesn't give a person the option to explore unless u want to walk for an hr with the character and that sucks, that's why I suggested a snowmobile for exploring, like a lot of free ride guys actually do and use like myself. I mentioned in another post that this game can be so much more then a ski/snowboard/wing suit game I'm not going to add the paragliding because that's not the best idea they had unless you like sight seeing. They really need to keep this game fresh with different things to do like Toboggans, snowmobiles and other ways to see the mountain and to explore the vast mountain range.
I'm a big fan of extreme sport games but no matter how good they are u put in a bunch of time on them and there all the same sh@t at the end of the day Jump, spin grab and it does get boring that's why they need different things in open world style game like this

After a whole lot of hours in the beta, here's my beta-impressions. (and no, I'm not going to pretend I've read the whole thread. I also don't give a sh*t about platform wars.)

My very first intro to this game was a loooong, boring tutorial I almost gave up on. The snowboarding is fun, but wingsuits and parachutes? Especially the wingsuit was a major pain in the tutorial. I mean, if you try the tutorial 10 times in a row and fail every single time for no apparent reason, there's clearly something wrong. I did get past this by finding the microscopic sweet spot on the left analog stick on my XBone to give me speed and slight updraft, but it was a major pain. Since then, I've tried wingsuiting a few tmes in free ride, but quickly gave up on it. It's too difficult and too pointless for me. I want to be one with nature, not one with the sky. Parachute was even more boring, as it's too slow, and I can't really do anything there. I get that some people will enjoy these, though. I don't mind that we have the option. Just don't expect me to use them. Skiing? Boring as hell. One of the first things I discovered was that it's nearly identical to snowboards. I can't even go uphill on skis, but I CAN race backwards. WTF? Even worse, when I find myself racing backwards on skis, I find it very difficult to turn around and go forward. So! Snowboard it is. But that's what I came for in the first place, and I'm pleased to say the snowboarding is awesome.

Finding my way around the mountain was a drag. This is mostly due to the camera constantly fighting me and bouncing around like a madman when zoomed in, so I can't even find my own races most of the time. Also, why are we stuck with a white cursor on a white background? It makes it very difficult to see where it is most of the time. On top of all that, I can't for the love of me figure out why we even have a cursor in the first place. Why can't we simply select things from a list? When I select My Last Ride and want to create a challenge, I'm told to use the menu to the right or left. So why can't I use the meny with the D-pad? Why am I stuck moving a white circle around a white background on the console version to find what I'm looking for?

This even goes to the "character creator", if we call it that. I can use the shoulder buttons on my XBone gamepad to pick the category for my clothes, but I'm still stuck moving the white circle on the white background to select my gear. Oh, sure, I can flip the right stick to scroll down the gear in the current category (if the WHITE circle on the WHITE background is in the list), but that's it. But considering every "character" is identical (some have a woman's voice, but that's it), I don't see a point in getting new gear in the first place. "Get gold on that race and get a helmet that has a slightly darker color than the one you already have!" Pointless.

And yes, by now it might seem like I hate the game. Actually... I love it. Racing feels very good, with great sense of speed, some fun comments from my rider (she REALLY don't like high jumps... lol), and the controls are pretty nice. I see some of you complain about the jumps, but I don't have a problem with that. Hold R2 to charge the jump, then let go at the end. Then you're free to flip, roll and grab all you want. I did notice how difficult landing right is, so while doing tricks in midair is fine, the real challenge is landing them and not loosing speed.

Though strangely, what I've spent most of my time doing is walking around. Literally walking around. I love long races, so I've spent a lot of time looking at the map and trying to find the highest peak possible, just to see if I could get up there. And most of the time, I could. I did find one mountain that seemed to be higher than the rest, but for whatever reason it came to a full stop after racing only three minutes or so. For comparison, the longest race I've created lasts just over 9 minutes without any crashes or falls. That's not bad, though I could have wanted it to last longer. Here's hoping for a huge mountain or two in the retail version, or as DLC. But the best part is I started playing this and decided to simply have some fun, and after a while, something clicked. Getting around on the moutain got easier. Finding my own races got bearable. Racing against my own best time got a lot of fun. The whole game is just... fun. it's not flawless by any means, and I don't think it will ever be "perfect". Even with rails, 30+ minute races, tons of customization options and real multiplayer, it will still only be "darn good". But the fun factor? 9/10. And isn't that what really matters?

Don't waste your breath on a guy that thinks he's a pc gamer and all he has is a keyboard and mouse.

Can someone please close this thread or move it to the PC vs. Console Control Wars forum?

No offense, but it stopped being about Steep and the Beta a few pages ago...
