I tested some survival and at one occasion I teamed up with a random, thinking it could be useful to have some backup. While it felt more secure the problem I noticed rather quickly was that items were always public and only available once. The other player was using ballistic shield and was closer to enemies. Whenever something dropped he picked it up and it was gone. Roaming the streets felt more like a rush to me: whoever found and opened a crate first got the content, nothing for the group. In essence teaming up felt counterproductive in the end, more like having competition tagging along that would steal away potential items. Frankly I don't think that is very enjoyable.
I get that items in Survival are limited, however the other side is complete selfishness in random groups (organized groups of friends may actually share appropriately). However, I'd much prefer if e.g. crafting material and item drops were duplicated as private drops while in groups, so that every member gets a fair share, at the very least those from loot containers and boxes.
From what I've read, Survival doesn't seem very group friendly. I'm sure grouping can be successful, provided your group is willing to communicate, but a random group of potatoes might prove to be a waste of time.Originally Posted by PRSE.4wry Go to original post
I did enjoy testing survival so far, its just the first-come-first-served mechanic that bothers me. It's actually more efficient to solo and then group up with players in the DZ.
However, I think Massive can easily fix this: if you open crates etc. in the current DZ (1.4) in groups, then everyone gets items. Just change that for survival and at least items from chest, loot containers etc. would be guaranteed.
In PvE this can be a problem initially, especially meds + pain killers. In PvP this is kinda fair (haven't tried PvP yet tbh) as a team greatly outweighs a solo player.
That's a fair point. Potentially it could be different for PvE vs. PvP then, especially since most PvP groups will be 'premade' anyway.
I actually just made a post that was fueled by what OP is talking about here: http://forums.ubi.com/showthread.php...1#post12039009
I was torn about this issue at first but since then I've settled on adding the ability to share crafting materials with other players as a "Balanced" solution. If one can just group up & share in all the glory of all the gear that is found & dropped, then it doesn't actually "Feel" like you're "Surviving" anymore. you can just group up & guarantee yourself loot by doing so. Think about it:
It's like if you were on a plane with 23 other people and your plane crashed on a secluded island with limited resources. Would it really make sense that every coconut you cracked open fed all 24 of you? No way. stuff is limited and will most definitely be exhausted. And not long after that, there will be bickering, fighting, and even violence among the 24 survivors because not every body got what the needed. Everyone's tolerance for selfishness will be tested. Lord of the Flies events will ensue.
And that's exactly how it should be a game like this with a mode as ambitious as the new "Survival" mode is. And that makes me love Survival even more.
But definitely, we need to be able to share crafting mats.
So why you not told him to share, and after he not do it, leave group, you can play solo. Watch streamers they can share items. In real life you not team up with ppl you don't like, so why you do it in game?Originally Posted by PRSE.4wry Go to original post
Is good mechanic, and should be as is now.
I just finished my first extraction for survival and it took me six tries before getting it and I was very happy with it. Now a few thoughts in what I think might need a change or not. I get that there is a lot of agents are stranded all over New York but if you manage to get into a group you should all be able to loot the containers but not in a group then its a race to get more stuff to get stronger faster to get out. Oh there are a few places in the game that when trying to get a weapons container and there is no way in hell you could get it, that is just a big damn tease of here's a weapon but you well never have it....grrrrr. Oh this is one thing that I have been pissed about sense the game came out, when you shoot a light instead of going out for good it flickers on and off making it more harder to see at times. The hunter faction where the hell they come from??? I have been soloing this and if I am able to well help other agents out as they have done for me. Oh and one last thing I like the fact that you start off with bare bones and have to work your way to better stuff every time so your not always assured that you well finish which is a nice challenge to the game.
Ye, Loads people are hating this idea and hopefully they chance the way cuz in groups defo random groups good luck finding group that doesn't run getting everything & not sharing (Some times i feel devs don't play online games)
I have not had that loot problem. But i have done it solo only to.
As when i tried today to go in the survival with group and not by match maker then my friend got kicked out of group and i started the survival alone.
We didnt even land on the same server.
What bugs me is that after you have done it one time then want to start over you need to restart the game cause otherwise you have mono sound in low volume.
Actually come to think of it i did had the loot problem.
I didnt get my loot from the helicopter drop site and when i killed some 4-5 bots then one guy run past and collect all the loot.
But well then again i got a lot of loot from other dead players.
