I got the game back in Dec of 2017 and I don't remember that mission to be really hard.

The way I played was to take cover and play it safe, maybe that's why it wasn't hard for me?

What about the tutorial mission became too hard for you? Was there a particular part you got stuck on?

The boss hits hard so it is important to use the cover and also use the enviromental hazards gas cans and gas canisters to hurt the boss during that fight on the roof.

The first few gangs of basic red enemies you fight in Brooklyn are a total pushover, and shouldn't be a problem unless you somehow get surrounded by a swarm of rushers, or you simply get caught off guard with some bad timing.

The purple veterans you meet a bit later are definitely stronger and will put up a good fight, but they also shouldn't really give you too much trouble for very long, if you pay attention and learn how to counter them.

But your first real fight with a yellow named elite boss, haha... You sure won't forget that experience for a while

It can be tough, and it can take many attempts, but... just try to pay attention to your surroundings and the warnings the game gives you, use cover as much as possible, be careful and tactical with your movements, time your attacks when the enemy is reloading, etc.

You do not really need the highest level gear to win the fight — it definitely helps, but it's not always required.

Here's quite a nice video guide I found on YouTube that you may find helpful:

Hang in there, dude! The game can be very punishing at first, but once you become familiar with how it works, once you learn the NPC behaviours and patterns, then you'll be kicking their butts in no time

Tutorial Mission? Its infinitely easier than it used to be. I used to play the trial before 1.8 hit and holy god, it was impossible. My first run through Brooklyn I musta died 20x doing the missions on that island and the last bit...

Now? Its rough, but far from too difficult. I have spanked that dudes *** like 6x across my toons once 1.8 hit. And yes 6x cuz I deleted a few guys and remade them...

    Tips for that boss though?

    Blind Fire when needed
Stay back, there is no need for you to advance up and get close to him. Make sure you keep situational awareness and keep a good eye on where he is so you can react with cover.
Use Grenades, Hold G to scroll around and pick a different grenade. Couple of Shock, Flashbang or Incendiary nades will buy you time to mag dump his head.
Buy an AR from the safe house. ARs will give you the punch, range and accuracy needed to deal with that guy. Yes, I understand for a completely new player you might not be able to cuz no $$.
Use the red explosive cans around the area to blow up the boss.
Use COVER like your life depends on it.
Kill all his adds first. Try to save him for last so you dont have any extras secksing you in your med pouch with their rifle barrels...
I believe hes got a grenade pouch doesnt he? If not just try for headshots.

Hes rough, I wont lie. But play it careful.

I tried this game on my PS4 at first (got it for free) and I was surprised how difficult beggining of the game was, in the good way, too many online looters like this just let you roll through everything, so I hope same difficulty is present in TD2

Rerolled a new character after being absent since launch. I got hard stopped here last night and I can categorically agree it is very tough.

    -grenade spam
    -enemies just behave more aggressive
-you are very undergeared at this point
-when ripper gets to 50% he goes on unstoppable flanks and if the adds are still up you are screwed.

I will revisit tonight, right now if feels like the father gascoigne difficulty check from Bloodborne.

I understand why it is there, i just wonder how many players don't as a lot of them might be coming in from the Div 2 Beta out of curiosity. Once they come up to this skill check, I wonder how many of them are being turned off by it?

When I first started this game, I died many times on that roof. I hadn't died prior to that.

Another tip I haven't seen mentioned. If you have tried a lot of the suggestions and still can't get them. Eventually if you fall back into the room you came out of to go to the rooftop, the enemies will follow you. This will funnel them into single file and a good kill zone. I hadn't leveled a character for nearly 2 years and it was soooo much easier now. I have probably gotten better, but didn't remember any of the mission specifics like NPC type, spawn locations, etc. but pretty much rolled right through it. I never advanced to the middle level. I just stayed back and shot from a far and every chance I had to shoot anything explosive or flammable.

Thanks for sharing these tips, agent!

Hope these can help other players having difficulty with the tutorial mission.
