Hey guys,
Just checking back into this thread after my earlier posts. I just wanted to say that I'm pretty impressed by the responses here, in that they are constructive and haven't devolved (much) into name-calling or just saying "git gud nub." I'll be the first to admit that I'm terrible at these kinds of games in general, so your patient responses are appreciated.
I was definitely frustrated during the tutorial mission, but I've since been having a much better time of it. Your character still feels fragile, and the large number of rushing enemies are still frustrating to deal with as a solo player, but overall I can tell that I'm getting better. I just need to learn to use all of the tools at my disposal and improve my cover-to-cover movement, but I'm enjoying myself.
Thanks again for the responses!
Old thread I know, but can I just say that as an ex PS4 player, who's just picked this up for XB1, I found this mission very very hard indeed (both times), although possibly harder now than for PS4. I certainly wasn't being "gung ho", attempting to gain cover at every opportunity. It seemed whenever I raised my head, about 10-15% was coming off the health bar. With only one healthpack and one grenade, I was close to rage quitting.
So yes, I agree, this is too hard for beginners. I don't mind a challenge, but when the NPC's are coming from all angles and you're armored only with paper, and a spray-and-pray gun (which you think is the correct weapon), I don't blame people for getting salty.
I was wondering if there is a "cleaner" way to move between cover to the side of you. It's easy enough to scurry to cover in front. But when you want to avoid the smoke grenade going off, I found it fiddly and a bit clumsy to find nearby cover. Am I missing something?
Oddly, when I did EVENTUALLY complete it, it went pretty smoothly. Suddenly Rippers health was dropping at a more sensible rate.
I died couple time on that mission too when i started my 2nd character, my advice is just gear up more, like on those 3 mission get all the gear and use the best one, buy some gear at the vendor if u can or you can explore the map find loot crate.Originally Posted by richard_hawkes Go to original post
I thought the tutorial was hard but then I decided to go straight to Madison when I got to Manhattan. LOLZOriginally Posted by balukbc1989 Go to original post
But yeah, the Police Precinct and Madison Hospital have always been the two hardest missions in the game for me.
They're like little mini legendaries. hahaha
Yeah, at first I thought I bit off more than I could chew, that I was too old for this gameOriginally Posted by balukbc1989 Go to original postBut, what I think the developers are trying to convey even early on is the importance of building a strong character (talents, skills, weapons, etc.) in addition to the importance of cover and position to an attack. Early on your character is a inexperienced weakling!
Now that I've had some time, I still suck but I like the challenge (I've only played solo, and no dark zone). I'm getting my monies worth as it may take me an hour to complete a mission where a seasoned gamer it may take 5 minutes (sucks to be them)
I only ever play this game solo.
If the mission you're talking about is the police precinct, then I can see why you're having problems.
I died a lot the first few times I tried that one.
1: Stay in cover whenever possible.
2: Take out the grenade guys first.
3: Make sure you've upgraded everything you can.
4. Use a G36 automatic rifle if possible, P416 will do at a stretch, (you can use other ARs, but accuracy will drop) the SMG doesn't have enough range for the rooftop fight.
5. Burst fire is the best way to go. Don't try to face tank any enemies you'll lose every time.
6. Use every exploding barrel you can for an advantage. There are quite a few on the roof to use.
7. Stay in cover as much as you can for the boss. Burst fire whenever he's not firing, duck and recover - repeat.
Good luck agent![]()
