Are the weapon names generic of real life counterpart names?

Title typo: Are the weapon names generic OR* real life counterpart names?

I saw this at this page: http://ghost-recon.ubisoft.com/wildl...ost/index.aspx

This kind of raise a question, are the weapon names in the game generic names or are they names of their real life counterpart?

Personally I hate generic names, one of the few reasons I didn't like GTA Online, if it's a M4A1, please let it be M4A1 in the name, you know.

    What's your take?

From what I remember from E3 just about every weapon had their actual names like the M9, M40, ACR, etc. I would assume some licensing issues would exist like in previous titles, which is fine by me as long as I recognize the weapon and it performs as it should.

Having the correct name is the weapon is nice but like Dan said, licensing issues may play a big part of not having them.,, not a deal breaker for me.

Now, having a bunch of weapons that behave the same, have the same sound and also have bad ergonomics... that's a deal breaker and immersion killer.

The most names are real names or a kind of it! Its okay and no fantasy **** like in GTA 5!
Only the cartel costums have own name!

that's only in that picture to show this is what assault rifles would most likely look like, and the one below it is what SMG would look like, there's AK47, ACR, MSR, AKS-74u, and a LMG that I've completely forgotten it's name, those are the weapons I've seen on the gameplays and trailers

The weapon in the "submachine gun" picture isn't even a submachine gun. lol

There shouldn't be licensing issues with military designations like M4, M16, M40, and so on, because they would, at least to my understanding, be considered "works of the federal government" and therefor be in the public domain. Manufacturer names, on the other hand, are a completely different story. Hence why the F2000 and Five-seveN in Splinter Cell were the "SC-20K" and "SC Pistol".

But at least they aren't *****ing out and making up their own fictional guns. *Cough* Metal Gear Solid *cough*
