As the title says, currently PVP consists of hip-shooting while strafing 20 feet apart. Or sprinting up and shooting someone point blank. It would be great to see this game evolve into a tactical shooter even in PVP.
I have seen some ideas suggested elsewhere,
- When in ANY cover grant a bonus to stability and accuracy, the same mechanic as Smart Cover utilizes in 1.4 Then they could stand to change Smart Covers bonuses to something else.
- Reduce accuracy while hip-firing and vastly increase the bloom while moving and hip-firing. Perhaps even lower the inflicted damage (against players only)
Anyone else with ideas to support this idea?

EDIT: I didn't notice the part about damage inflicted. That could work. But only if you receive more damage out of cover, rather than receive less when in. It might sound like it makes no difference, but if TTK out of cover is extremely fast, that will force people to stick to cover. If it's the same out of cover as it is now, and then slower in cover, people out of cover would just approach the same way they do now, and the person in cover will just be delaying the inevitable.
Won't work cause there's no PVP in game, besides the "Grief" Zone that enforce shooting in the back and constant running.
You won't find any rogues holding their ground and using cover, all they do is run.
Cover itself is always more desire-able than trying to tank damage, and with the new stats changes on 1.4 people will have a harder time tanking and doing damage at the same time.
If there was a substantial gap in damage, a ganker that would be spotted out of cover would be at a huge disadvantage, and would risk flagging for no takedowns.Originally Posted by Kobi_Blade Go to original post
The banshee set does just that, it gives additional damage to players out of cover.
Messing with smartcover is an insult to the 1.4 update. You've basically said your SC ideas are crap. We want these. SC was one of the things that broke the game. Messing around with them again will again break the game.
Additional damage to players out of cover will again break the game. Banshee LMG with additional damage out of cover will be catastrophic!
I think you guys misread that, I said to lower the damage WHEN hip-firing. This would at the very least force people to aim down sights to actually kill someone.
And smart cover was ONLY broken in PVE. You know how many times I got killed while I had my smart cover up just waiting for rogues to pass me. Maybe for stacked teams of rogues it was an issue, but stacked teams regardless of skills used etc will still be bad news for any solo player.
