Maybe he's just talking about creating the aesthetic and maybe I'm reading between the lines a little too much but I get the picture that they're trying to make an immersive game, while only showing us the pew pew scoot scoot -footage. Did they fail to recreate that "Ghost fantasy" and have to resort to pushing out a generic shooter or are they still working on it? Did the executives force them to make it more casual? What is the reason behind this comm blackout?

They have PR people with all the time in the world to document and publish whatever the team is creating. This is intentional.

    >inb4 "Laurent is executing the classic Ubisoft maskirovka bullsh*t"
Yeah, I'm assuming he's actually talking truth here. Maybe I'm wrong.

P.S. What is this? Am I finally posting some actual, real questions? Yes. Answer them.

I don't see how you are reading into it too deeply at all. The guy clearly meant exactly what he said that how you dress in relation to your surroundings and the weather will have an effect on gameplay. We have yet to see this being showcased and its exactly the thing that will make this game stand out from the poop we've been given for the last ten years. How anyone can interpret this any other way is out of this world. And again, they don't see it as a blackout. This is standard procedure for them. They make a ton of promises, disappear for months, or in the case of Rainbow Six Patriots, years on end, only to find that they really never intended on delivering on those promises at all. I stopped holding my breath on this changing ten years ago. The absolute abortion that is Siege should have been clear enough for all of us old school fans.

In order to recreate the Ghost fantasy, we want to recreate the mood, and what it’s like to be a group of four Black Ops operatives behind enemy lines.

An important fact is that the Ghosts wear not only military equipment, but also civilian clothing. This allows them to blend in with the environment, which is just as important a concept to us as recreating a “behind the lines” look.

To me, as a Ghost, you have to wear suitable shoes, thick socks, solid fatigues, several coats, and a soft shell. But when you’re in the jungle, the climate changes. You’re in a temperate but humid zone, so you have to dress accordingly.

They’ll have to choose their equipment according to the environment and use lightweight, quiet, and durable gear.

Most of the interview quotes make sense to me because I'm in the military and I know how it is. It only raises simple questions in regards to the variety of environments in the game.

    1. Does it affect your strategy? That I can answer without needing Ubisoft to. It absolutely affects your tactics, but that ultimately depends on how accurate they made the enemy AI. What's their quality of sight and hearing? If they spot you from a distance observing their camp, does it raise suspicion, or do they go on full alarm?

    2. Does it affect your team's stamina and performance if they are wearing inappropriate gear in a certain climate? That hasn't been answered.

    3. Do we have to order our AI teammates to change gear when traversing from one climate to another, or do they automatically do it? My guess is they automatically do it.

The big question I have is about those Assault, Engineer, Sniper, and Support classes in regards to multiplayer. It's fine in single player, obviously, but does it limit your freedom to play the role you want among online teammates?

I hope when they say "The following archetypes will be available..." in regards to the AI teammates from the Meet The Ghosts article, means you can choose them as a default if you don't want to build your own AI team. Somehow I don't think Ubi will accommodate those of us who prefer to build our own team. My expectations are low.
