    1.4 - Same Old (UPDATED)

After reading the latest state of game it became clear the game won't be changing, this cause the developers way of thinking hasn't changed, I'm not even going to bother to re-install the game when 1.4 launches.

As the biggest topic of discussion recently, difficulty is the focus for this final PTS week. It’s clear that there are two strong opinions on the subject right now, those who thought the PTS week 3 was fine and those who thought it was too easy. Our goal is to find a solid middle ground.
Instead of giving us the option (easy, hard) the developers are still trying to please everyone on middle ground, there's no middle ground when it comes to difficulty, and we can expect the NPCs to remain bollet sponges on 1.4, meaning the game will be same compared to 1.3.

I'm not even going to mention the Dark Zone, that hasn't changed at all on 1.4 to help PvE players (this after thousands of threads and complaining about it in the last year), they keep forcing everyone to go rogue (now with even more bonuses).

This is a personal opinion, so I suggest the kids who can't take it to go flame elsewhere, anyone else who is mature enough to make a discussion with valid points to make it worth even consider 1.4 go ahead.

The entire PTS that was supposed to be a place were they would be listening to "Returning" players, ended up infested with "Current" players instead, making it pointless. Those same "Current/Veteran" players that came in this thread and many like it to just offend OP (me in this case) and say everything is fine.

Has the game improved in 1.4?
    Yes!

Has the game improved enough to increase and keep a steady player base?
No, the game has improved but still has (some of the) same old problems.

Will I be part of the next PTS to try and improve this game?
We'll see how it plays out, probably not.

    We need,

    1. Two balance trees (one for PVP and another for PVE).
Something most games in our age do to keep balance and please everyone, trying to balance both in the same three will only annoy both sides with each update.

    2. If we wanna make the game casual friendly, stop adding penalties for playing on lower difficulty.
On lower difficulties the game is more grindy, it makes no sense to have casual players playing on a grindy environment.

    3. To accomodate the lower grind on lower difficulty, make two variants of gear.
On Final Fantasy XIV there's END GAME GEAR and RELIC END GAME GEAR.

The END GAME GEAR is for casual players.

The RELIC END GAME GEAR is a stronger variant for Veteran players that requires more grind to get.

A system like that makes total sense, cause casual players get to enjoy all the content. (It is forbided to make content you can only complete with RELIC GEAR).

    4. Dark Zone concept needs to go, it's neither PVE nor PVP, it's a Grief Zone.
I won't be going further into this cause there's thousands of great ideas and feedback dating back to The Division beta that has been ignored by the developers.

Do I believe the developers will listen and/or try to implement any of the above ideas?
Sure.. Jesus will come down from heaven the same day.

I've been playing The Division since the Closed BETA, so bare with me if I have low faith in this game and/or the developers.

PS: Most of the quotes I ignore are due to being off-topic and/or flame and are instantly reported, don't get offended if I didn't respond directly to you when you provived a proper and/or mature argument, it probably means someone else already gave you a proper answer or I simply agree with your argument with nothing to add.

It's ok to have an opinion, but with the quoted segment you sound like you're the kid who can't stand being wrong.

They've detached the quality of loot from content difficulty, made it so that you can select when you are ready to grind for better quality gear.

That's as generous as it can get without being absurd.

It's hardly the "same" bullet sponge. You can't expect this to be the usual shooter with 5 bullets for TTK, as much as I'd enjoy it being more gritty in that sense... the AI isn't cut out to make some convoluted strategy to throw you off guard. And even with this limitation the TTK is nowhere near as long as in 1.3.

With the appropriate PvE stats such as armor and elite damage, people have been comfortably completing group content solo, with stats 2-3 times as bad as standard optimization for GS229.

Just stop it with the fatalistic BS about how nothing has changed or nothing is getting better. Your opinion is hardly your personal opinion considering how much it echos the gibberish you read and hear over the internet... If you are only thinking about re installing and have not actually played the PTS, I doubt you could form an opinion that hasn't been cried on these forums yet... less so have a unqiue personal opinion.

errrrr, we do have the option for easy or hard.

We have 4 tiers with 3 sub tiers each in fact.

Even acknowledging that WT1,2,3 are just stops on the way and WT4 is the only one that matters, you still have 3 levels of difficulty within that tier.

It is all much easier overall also.

I don't think of tier 3 as just a stop along the way. I think of it as "relaxation play" and tier 4 as "challenging & gear up" tier. Fact of the matter is, you can play at the difficulty that feels right to you, then when available, move up a level to play the easiest modes to gear up. You can then move back down if you dont feel comfortable.

What I don't understand is why they didn't release a quick and dirty patch for 1.3 that would have changed the drop tables so that you would have been able to get higher GS items as reward.
I mean if 229 / 268 GS could drop from Lvl 32 (low chance)/33 (high chance) boss, and if HVT could not drop only lonestar,at least we could have some fun before patch 1.4 release.

The overall "balance changes" in patch 1.4 ain't really achieved, the meta has changed, it is true that there are more variety in skills / Gear sets, it's also true that you'll have to change your main weapon (M1A nerf, SMG nerf)
but the overall "never without First Aid" / "armor bonus above everything" is still the same, and they didn't finish their fine tuning between "too easy" / "too hard" / "bullet sponge yay or nay".

si IMHO : they should / could take a few more weeks to analyse the data from PTS, but meanwhile : make it rain

If I were you, I'd have a watch of some of the videos on YouTube. In one particular video LikeButter solos Russian consulate in World Tier 4 using purple gear. He struggles and encounters a glitch at the end, but even with terrible gear he manages. This is a difficulty they have said is designed for optimised 229 gear and he uses purple 185 gear.

The quote you added was more about the difference between week 3 and 4 of the PTS.

The point is you can't judge the changes from a single quote. Even reading all the forums and watching all the videos will only give you an idea of what it will be like.

The only way you'll know is to play it!

OP doesn't want a discussion, otherwise he would have explained his opinion.

I can't for the life of me understand why people are posting this stuff since Massive acknowledged the broken game and so close to patch 1.4. I'm an xboxer and have not had opportunity to play on the PTS to form my own opinion but that doesn't mean I've dismissed it out of hand.

I'm on PS4 so in the same boat, but I've been following the forums and watching videos on YouTube. Just from that its clear that it's going to be a very different experience.
