The main issue with 1.4 is that they made it so the build diversity is reduced by a lot (i'm not talking about the gear sets in particular, i'm talking about the role in the team), even if they said that they want to increase the build diversity, 1.4 only increase the gear set diversity, but you need to make the same build with every gear set.
In 1.3 we had at least some build diversity when composing a team (yes, the tank role is missing, but that could still be somehow done with a tanktician build), but we at least needed someone with high skill power (tactician, reclaimer or why not sentry) and other 3 with dps, the best, by far, is sentry, but other gear sets are still used.
One change that contributes to the build diversity decline is the change of some deploy-able skills, like smart-cover, cool-down starts only after they are destroyed, while others, like turret starts cool-down when they are deployed (do they know about the shock turret in pvp?). This makes smart cover an unreliable skill and forces people to compensate with rolling armor everywhere they can and that is the next point in why 1.4 is worse than 1.3.
Armor: they are practically forcing you to roll armor on 4 pieces now, remember in 1.3 when you finally got the 268 sentry chest, it's rolled with firearms/electronics and said "no problem" i will re-roll that into stamina, but wait... there is no armor roll... so can't re-roll the main stat, that is a pretty much a lost piece, because you absolutely need armor there, well that will happen now on 4 out of 6 pieces, instead of on 2 out of 6 (but at least the loot is much better, i have to give them that).
Firearms: i don't know the math for firearms scaling, but it seems worse than in 1.3, there i can actually feel that enemies drop faster with the character that has about 400 more firearms points, but in 1.3 i put about 1000 more firearms and i didn't see a noticeable change in how they are dropping, only in how fast i was dropping because i had less toughness.
Another problem is that i don't see a way to use a build with one piece rolled with electronics when solo (they said that electronics will get better), the main reason for that is the change to skills i talked about, i can't keep smart cover up to protect myself and i'm not that tough to survive without it.
These changes make the skill build, the dps build and the solo firearms/skill build, unreliable and nobody will use that anymore, but everyone will have armor on all of the pieces and lots of stamina to be able to face-tank the enemies, but at least they are using different gear sets is the same way and create the exact same build with them.
Build diversity? What's that?
If your a solo player then your choices are even more limited then before. Smart cover doesn't seem to work at all meaning you have no choice but to try and reach the armor cap and pile on health if you want to survive anything. To reach the armor cap is nearly impossible and requires that not only do you have to sacrifice other things for armor rolls on anything that will take it, you've pretty much got to run a Sturdy holster and Robust chest as well, limiting your gear choices to 4. Then with skills you've pretty much GOT to take survivor link as the signature skill and another healing skill on top of that. That leaves you with one skill option to choose.
So you can pick Alpha or Preditor or whatever and they pretty much feel the same and it's boring. Love the game, hate the game but heaven forbid you should feel apathetic about the game, that's got to be the worst.
yep i agree here, thts another problem TD faces ,no diversity + nearly no variety
i am talking about veteran(playtimewise) players with around 500Hrs or more++
this might be 100% different to a real new player
if TD would have been released with the settings we had in 1.4 week 4
i say not 90% of PB would have left in the first 6 month maybe 20-30 @ peak, but thts normal
some may not like TD and others already bored or such, but not 90%
tht tell tales u know,

Yes, i forgot about the mandatory healing skill. People might say whatever they want about 1.3, but you can make a build that works, even in dz, without using the first aid skill, i use it to farm dz 5-6 and hunt rogues, mainly solo.Originally Posted by aldramelech Go to original post
None of this is really true. You don't *have* to roll armor on everything. 50%ish is fine for WT4 Challenging content. You don't need a sturdy or robust piece. I ran a lot of content at 50% mitigation in a 4pc FC/2Nomad build. Also 4pred / 2 Striker. As a solo, crowd control is far more important than armor. You don't need the mitigation if you control the mobs. Gas seeker, Fire Turret, pick your fights, set up 1v1s or 1v2s at worst. Use the environment and line of sight. Spec for heals, get predatory on your weapon. You have options, you have choices. Adapt, learn, win.Originally Posted by aldramelech Go to original post
Please show a video on how you pick your 1v1 fights in dz6 ( is a big bonus if you include other a**h***s the shot you in the back while you are busy with 1v1 the npcs )Originally Posted by Arafys Go to original post
Another thing that is not working is the enemies intelligence that is supposed to make the game more challenging (instead of the insane health and armor), the only intelligent stuff that i saw them do is say "he's alone" and then all of them rush me![]()
Oh, the DZ is still in the game? I haven't been in there since 1.1. I really don't give two craps about that place. Its irrelevant.Originally Posted by ZlatomirZ Go to original post

Guess that Arafys 1v1 or 1v2 means player vs 1 or 2 NPCs at maximum. Not one versus 1 or 2 players.
For now it is really hard to shoot from place where all NPCs can see you and can shoot you. You will get really huge damage. But if you will smart and will use cover and LOS blocking terrain, you will deal wit 1 or 2 NPCs at time, so you get less damage.
In final days I run 3pcs Sentry and 3pcs Striker, all was old 1.3 migrated items, not new ones, so I cant roll armor on my backpack as there is skill power and I did recalibration for main stat. I roll armor on my kneepads and have armor on vest and holster (iusuall armor items in 1.3). I just switch from FA to ST mods with armor and I can achieve toughness about 330k which is something for what I will target in 1.4
On the difficulty of the game I believe that until week 3 PTS was actually really, where with the the reduction of the damage suffered by the enemy and the improvement in 4 PTS week of AI, will ban the solo player game, where a very small number of players want greater difficulties, just the players play hard underground with 5 guidelines is a challenge, those who like trouble, do soil underground in 3 stages with 5 guidelines or go on DZ 05-06 ground.
