Unplayable (Graphics issues, speed issues, desync)

OK, cool thing Ubi has given away such a good game from what I've heard. Never played it, and it always had my interest ever since I read about the game on a games' mag.

HOWEVER, the game is as is, i.e. absolutely impossible to run smoothly on a recent system. Current issues:

    1. HEAVY glitching and graphics artifacts. The hud glitches so heavy It took me quite a while to find out how to eat to restore health.
    2. Less than ideal controller support. I get it that the game was meant to be played with digital controls, but it would be indeed nice to play with my current analog gamepad.
    3. Audio and video desync during in-game movies. I had to turn on the subtitles to know what was going on on the scenes.
    4. Inconsistent speed. Right after restoring the shields and going to the hangar, the game's speed increases quite a lot, assuming because there is not much stuff to render than the lighthouse island.

The game has been eluding even before I managed to install it. While downloading, the progress stuck at 99% no matter what I did. I asked Ubisoft support what to do.

Now, when I contacted a mainstream video streaming service's support, or a mainstream digital distribution platform's support, or even a major software designer's support, they did all they could and more to get my issues resolved, always reassuring me they'd get my issue solved during every step, or on all chat sessions. I asked Ubisoft's chat support. Dude simply told me to follow the instructions he had sent to my email, rather than tell me them right then. I did follow, and lo and behold, IT. DIDN'T. HELP. They sent me instructions regarding connectivity issues, whereas I was having INSTALLATION issues. In the end, I downloaded an "alternate" version of the game and had UPlay scan the directory for installation. But I digress...

Now, I'm having the speed, desync and graphics issues, and I think I know what I'll find when I ask for an Ubisoft Support Chat...
Does anyone know what can I do to be able to play BGnE?

I've tried disabling and enabling HW Vertex Proc., I've tried using the BGE ENB., I've tried running under WinXPSP3 compatibility mode, I've made sure its affinty is set to one core only, I've forced VSync setting on my NVidia panel... I don't know what else to do...

I really wanted to play this one

hello sir, i had the same problems.

if you look in the manual of the game (yes there is an electronic manual/read me) they say that you should turn flare of in order to increase the frame rate. do so and everything will be fine. Oh, and turn off anti-aliasing, the game's manual says no to anti-aliasing.

    post-scriptum

    you are welcome.

Wong Info; No Help for Video Issues

Schammelam says: if you look in the manual of the game (yes there is an electronic manual/read me) they say that you should turn flare of in order to increase the frame rate. do so and everything will be fine. Oh, and turn off anti-aliasing, the game's manual says no to anti-aliasing.

The manual supplied to me by Uplay/Ubisoft does NOT detail ANY such options; no such options exist.
    Specific Issue:
There ARE no video options for this game, not according to the game itself, nor according to the official manual. There are no rendering options OF ANY KIND, nor is there any way to specify resolution and/or aspect ratio. The game has a default resolution of 640x480, and it is HORRIBLY stretched across my 23" 16:9 aspect screen. All the edges of the graphics are raggedly jagged and details are blurrily fuzzy.

Does anyone know of a CONFIG or INI file I may manually edit to alleviate this problem? Otherwise, I will be forced to abandon this game permanently.

    EDIT:
There is a Settings application in C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\games\Beyond Good and Evil; these settings are NOT available in-game. Video issues may be fixed here, allowing specific tweaks if there are incompatibility issues.

I did also discover ANOTHER quirk: Game progress does not save. Contrary to in-game suggestions, checkpoints do not save. If you want to resume after quitting, you have to start a new game. EVERY TIME, because there ALSO is no manual save option. I am uninstalling this piece of utter garbage.

where to find setting+ actual full solution

Sorry people, i goofed. When i saw the first cutscene in sync, I was all happy and decided to hit reply, but after that **** got worse

If you turn off flare, the first cutscene is in sync. The second, however, is not. But i found out on another thread that there is a genuine full fix. http://forums.ubi.com/showthread.php...s-*FIX*-Forums BIG thanks to elusivespoon.

if that doesn't work, here is a direct link to the download: http://www.hex2bit.com/test/Full%20Processing.exe
jam this **** in to the game directory. Then make a shortcut to that **** and call it beyond good and evil.

Also, gremlinkurst, the options you mentioned are also accessible using the uplay launcher. Just press play, and you will get a drop down menu which says Game and Settings. And if you go to support: for example this game(couldn't use my own images) see the questionmark with support there? That is where the readme will be with instructions.

Oh and I don't know about the save problems, but when I find them and can not fix it, I will never play this game again.

and sorry about the bragging that I had the solution, that was a little bit stupid :(

    Save game issue

    Dear All,

I have started the game on my older PC and now I wanted to continue on my new one.
Unfortunately, my saved game was not synchronized automatically.

I cannot seem to find a solution for this issue. I have read a lot of comments but no solution so far.
I cannot find the save games locally either, so I cannot back them up manually...

Is there a solution to force uplay to synch my save files from the cloud? Or any other solution?

    Thank you very much!

    Updates:

I've tried running the game with this Full Processing.exe "fix" you've mentioned, but I still get an absurd desync, and still have the graphic glitches.
The cutscene I'm talking about is the one right after you are allowed to save in which your first mission is given.

    ENB? Done.
    Full Processing.exe? Done.
    Flares off? Done.
    Disabled HW Vertex Processing? Done.

    Still nothing.... Any more suggestions?

    PS.:
    @gremlinkurst

Play it a lil bit. You can save as soon as you receive your first MDisc. Until then, yeah... You can't save for the first 10 minutes of gameplay.

    Guide To flawless performance!

First download goo.gl/q99CTX and extract to bge folder!
(If you're paranoid about viruses read how to do it manually below)

Set bge.exe and checkapplication.exe to compability mode Windows XP (Service Pack 3) to eliminate compability issues then start SettingsApplication.exe det game to run at 60hz (BGE CAN NOT run at higher than 60fps it WILL unsync audio and video) then in advanced settings, check manual compability settings and check:

    Triple-buffering

    SSE

    Fast Flip

If you have previously downloaded an enb mod remove all files!

This made the game run perfectly and removes all the enb graphical effect with causes some bugs.

also this fixes the alt-tab bug.

For the Paranoid: If you're still doubtfull about viruses and such you can download the dll from the official enb website it uses an older d3d9.dll from oblivion enbdev.com/mod_tesoblivion_v0075a.htm and just use my enbseries.ini from the rar or create it from scratch by yourself here http://pastebin.com/YB1KEU6y

Does NOT work with widescreen mod or anything that uses a modified d3d9.dll

I've tested this extensively so if you have any issues please review the guide again remove other fixes and describe your issues if they persist!

Thx Ante, now with the dll & the ENB it runs at least fluent but occasionally the graphics flickers (water, HUD, Subtitles in Cutscenes or the Holographic Guy) & other elements appear in the game.

EDIT: Well surprisingly all flickering is gone if i turn off Anti-Alising but check everything on the right side too so

    I have a Geforce GTX 1060 Card.

Glad I'm not the only one with issues. It's really absurd that a game like this has all these problems, but ehy, Ubisoft manages to mess up on everything.

Thanks Ante, I'll def try your instructions.
