    Could this be a solution for 1.4 being too easy?

    This is a response to the thread: "A Plea from a Veteran: Throw out 1.4"

    So after reading most posts in the thread what do you guys think about the solution to add Heroic to the Main missions and Underground as well as level 34/35 NPC's to the LZ only (maybe DZ but I think that would make things too difficult for the mix of opinions and that the DZ is mostly about PVP anyway) as an option.

    So basically you get the same rewards, credits and perks of Challenging but the NPC's hit harder and have more health in heroic.

    I feel like we are forgetting that this game is also really enjoyable to play and the harder it is (for those who like a challenge) the more enjoyable it is. Half the time i'm playing this game its mostly because I enjoy playing it and its not really about farming or loot, I really like playing the main missions and underground.

    I feel like with this solution it helps players who are wanting to log in to just play and challenge themselves (because lets face it, shooting guns is ****ing fun) can do that.

    That way the players who are looking to farm and consider "Challenge Mode" to be a challenge don't feel ripped off that they need to play Heroic to get the same gear sets.

    So basically all Heroic would do is just make the NPC's hit harder and have longer health for those who are looking for that.

    BAM problem solved.

    [edit] Obviously all this would do is add a Heroic option to underground / main missions and a World Tier 5 for LZ where enemy NPC's are level 35.

    And you know what, maybe this doesn't even need to be in 1.4, it can be added later since all its doing is adding more difficulty to the game. But I really think its a pretty good solution to the people who are looking for something more challenging.

    Or they could just put Challenging back to Week 2 scaling.

    Same gear drops in Hard already so it satisfies the more relaxed playstyle.

    There is a very vocal group of players who absolutely hate having any content out of reach. What was the point of complaining about Challenging story missions being too hard if it was just about gear access? The same loot drops in Hard. Heroic won't work if people react the same way they did to Challenging. It'll be a waste of time and effort on Massive's part.

    I think the rewards in Hard and challenging are completely different, if they are the same,the amount is different. My point is that this is still a game, and for people who enjoy it because they like to play the game its nice to be able to play a mission that is more challenging because the reward isn't always about getting loot or I didn't get any good loot, its about "hellz ya, i just finished this very challenging mission with my team and it was fun and tense".

    I don't know what you meant by this sentence. I think most players want to be able have a chance (if geared up properly) of being able to play any content in the game. There are those of us who realize that will never happen for them.

    Frankly, I haven't seen anyone pushback on having the addition of heroic lvl content in the game. And Massive hasn't ruled it out. As long as they don't create another level of endgame gear, which starts the whole merry-go-round again.

    I'm referring to the people who decided that Challenging was too hard in Week 2.

    I can never tell exactly what counts as having optimized gear but I don't feel like I'm there yet. I think what I wear is perfectly achievable (I didn't throw my LS away when I got a good piece) and feel fairly average from a skill stand point. As in, I think what I do is perfectly learnable. I see posts from people unwilling or unable to adapt to the difficulty on week 2 PTS. There was even a post where someone said they had a hard time with random and unoptimized gear and comments were saying the instance is too tough. I don't get it.

    1. I'm not great at this game.
    2. I'm not having problems in Challenge.

    UG Challenge is a freaking joke in T4 right now.

    etc. etc.


    Hard and Challenge have the same loot. Why do we need Heroic if we could just make Challenge a little harder?

    I see. I didn't notice that post, and there certainly a ton of people on here that can only see life from their own experience and not able to take a step back and see a bigger picture.

    I don't even attempt challenging, so I can't speak intelligently about the gap between hard and challenging. I do know that Massive stated the gap was too large in 1.3 and they were going to narrow it. I still am convinced they intend to add heroic bac in once they get this balanced properly, but can only infer from some of the Gabe comments.

    There must always be a reward for harder content.

    To avoid conflict with average players, just make those rewards non-gear related in that they don't enhance the player more for completing harder content but rather show the player off visually only.

    E.g A unique cosmetic like they did with weapon skins for incurssions.

    Agree with cosmetic, but there needs to be more...when you get those cosmetics there is none reward again.
    Slightly more credits, PC and materials would be enough along the chance on unique cosmetic item.

    How about a leaderboard.


    Fastest clear times.
    Highest damage recorded.
    Highest heals given.
    Most damage absorbed/mitigated.
    MVP

    Etc
