    Squad Maker

Hello, the community of Ghost Recon Wildlands, I'd like to discuss about the idea that involves allowing players to represent themselves more expressively and collectively to promote interpersonal moral.

The concept is inspired from Social Club Crew of Grand Theft Auto Online and Battlelog Platoon of Battlefield franchise. For a multiplayer and Co-op game that may offer PvP experience (I think?). I believe it would be very interesting if players are presented with the opportunity to create a squad where they can invite other players to be part of. Now I don't know if Ghost Recon Wildlands will have such feature or if other Ghost Recon games or Tom Clancy games have similar feature. (Rainbow Six?) I nonetheless would like to talk about the concept of a squad maker and why it would be valid for this game.

It is certainly correct that when we expose our faction's identity, we would show the badge that is the Ghost Recon skull, as we belong to the Ghost Recon special operations unit, but I believe it would be more open and creative if players are also offered to create their own squad, as a sub-unit within Ghost Recon, so when players share their faction to other players, they may sport a different badge that they designed themselves and refer themselves with a different name.

The squad in the game is like any team, it may use many methods to identify themselves and speak their agenda, such as a squad logo, a squad motto, and of course, a squad name, or if I may go deeper, squad colour codes, a squad goal, a squad showcase of achievements and trophies, a squad rank or level. Two things that I find are most important is a squad logo and squad colour codes.

Squad logo is in my opinion, the most effective and definite way to present your squad, just like the Ghost Recon skull, you may design your own logo in which you can place on your Ghost's outfit, weapon or possibly on vehicle. On the outfit, I'd preferred if there are only few fixed places such as the side shoulder, the chest so we know where to look when encountering other players. On the weapon, I'd preferred if we can plaster the squad logo anywhere, (Does any game allow you to do that?) instead of fixed places.

While squad colour codes may not be as effective as squad logo when it comes to identity, it is nevertheless a method to bring character to your squad's image. You may consider that colours such as yellow, orange and sky blue are too revealing and vibrant, and may brand a squad as a "clown" scene unfit for game immersion, and this perhaps could be circumvented by limiting the bright colours available, and that is by means of offering only darker colours to choose from. A way to brand your squad using colours is similar to designing a flag. You can design your desired pattern or shapes to be applied as an overlay of your outfit. And of course, you may choose not to "wear" your squad's colours.

To be amongst a squad that you made for you and your colleagues can be an immersive thrilling experience while traversing the Wildlands. Instead of four individuals, it is a team or squad. It could definitely allow Ghost Recon Wildlands to be a more attractive and diverse game.

Afterthought: If the finished product do allow players to create a squad identity, how close will the logo maker be to Adobe Illustrator? The pain and patience me and many others are willing to go through in order to make a worthwhile logo in those bloody awful and poorly designed logo makers is beyond my reach for sanity.

Well, GRAW2 had a clan system that's sort of like what you're asking for - the logo was only for viewing on the lobby screen and other things if that makes sense.

Oddly enough though this does have a basis in realism to a degree. Units will ALWAYS have a nickname/callsign or a logo in the US Army and they usually are based on what letter they begin with. For example, my old unit Bravo Company 1-87 INF 10th Mountain were called the "Blacksheep." Alpha was "Gator" (because Alligator is too sissy...I guess), Charlie was "Cobra," Delta was "Dagger," and Foxtrot was "Forge." While we were in Afghanistan, my company actually spray painted sinister looking black ram skulls on our MRAPs in addition to the normal unit stuff on the rear bumpers. It even goes deeper than that as each platoon had an official nickname/mascot too. My old platoon, 3rd Platoon, called ourselves the "Wolfpack." Going even deeper than that one of our squads gave themselves a nickname to further differentiate themselves and, for some reason, decided to call themselves "Lamas" and even spray painted tan lamas on their magazines and weapons.

In short, I am ok with this idea.

Definitely not opposed to this, I liked this feature in BF4. I view it as just another piece of character customization really. Not of the highest priority but definitely has a big two thumbs up from me.

I'm for it and it could really make squads and clans intresting. + adding personnal touch to them

It makes me think of your other post about facial customization. If we don't wan't to see others with : cloon uniforms, flashy weapon skins, funky logos, foot noses, ... we could select an option that only give apparence of your AI teammates that you designed like you design your character when you start the game.
But for this to happen we first need the possiblity to customize our AI teammates. If it's not the case it could simply show "vanilla" characters to replace your friends if you don't want to see them.
    Looks like a good deal
