I have cancelled my pre-order and/or will no longer be buying the game.
I have cancelled my pre-order, but will be buying the game when it's come down in price.
It has not impacted my feelings towards the game at all.
I have pre-ordered the game, specifically because it is no longer split screen.

Other. (Explain)

Jesus, this seems to be the new thing to wine about, now that everyone has flamed enough about deflect...
I understand everyone who is upsed because they were looking forward to have the occasional split screen party with a friend (and so was i), but the games focus was always on skill-based online multiplayer and now everone is suddenly behaving as if they were expecting to play a new Mario-Party...
I wonder if we were even talking about the same game if you are now suddenly stop following because of that.
If 'playing together with your best pal' is the greatest thing in the world for you, maybe you should just each buy a console which will enable you to play almost every game together, and in a much more enjoyable way.
And if you insist on it and playing on one console with multiple people is the coolest thing ever for you, why dont you follow all the cool games out there that enable you to do that and have a focus on that couch-coop aspect? Helldivers, just to name the first that comes to my mind. I like to play that with buddys a lot, but it is for the occasional short-term social gaming experience, not really a game that i personally would play heavily alone. For Honor on the other hand is a game that really could work as a long term game, were you develop your personal skill, rise up in ranks, even farm gear etc... But clearly not so much a game for a short couch-party with your pals who play the game every two months. Yet there you sit and whine....
I notice my posts get saltier by the day. I am a little sorry for that because i never saw myself as a person surfing the interwebs to spread bad vibes. But 80% of the things i see on the Forums is people complaining for questionable reasons. I was very happy seeing informative things like the class guides posted by the hall-of-heroes community. I enjoyed the Alpha footage Montages some players posted after the Alpha. I have fun reading about fan-theories like the Peacekeepers beeing viking descendants.
Could we please go back to the positive stuff ? I want to enjoy my hype, look forward to the game and discuss it in a optimistic way.
Not saying that well formulated critique is not alowed but this forum gets more negative by the day.
Greetings, have a nice day y all !
I haven't quite cancelled my order yet. I'm waiting for more details from the Devs. But yeah, if it's well and truly completely gone. I'm out.
Interestingly, the people complaining are saying the same thing, roughly. If we want the split screen experience we will stop following this game to go play others. The problem is we were told that this would be a split screen game, got our hopes up, and then that was taken away. So, of course, those who find split screen one of the most enjoyable gaming experiences will back out. That's why we're writing posts in the first place, to explain that yes: without split screen we will back out to play different games.Originally Posted by Dez_troi_aR Go to original post
In any case, I do hope we get a bit more clarity on the issue. And if I do not buy the game I still do hope that everyone else has fun and the game is a success. It looks like the Devs have put a lot of effort into this.
I've already purchased the pre-order for the gold edition of the game, and I don't plan on canceling it unless I play the next alpha or the open beta and it's a completely different game that is terrible.
There were a LOT of questions in the extended version of the closed-alpha survey asking how you play the game... if you play online with friends, solo, etc. so I am guessing some of their decision to cut the split-screen came from the feedback on that survey. I personally like to play online multi-player with friends, or else I play solo. So I have no use for the split-screen - that being said, it's disappointing they cut it and I feel for people who were excited about that feature.
My biggest concern is that the online multi-player feature works, and works seamlessly. I don't really see how cutting out the split-screen fixes that for them, but whatever. All I know is that HAS to work or else the game will not be playable. I can't tell you how many times on PS4 I would just give up and play a 2v2 or 1v1 because never-fail, if one or more people in the 4v4 had the dreaded red connection bar under their names you could count on getting thrown back to the main menu mid-match.
I selected "other", simply because I did preorder the game, I am not going to cancel.
Split screen or not, it was never a reason for me to want to buy the game.
Bear in mind that I will be playing on pc with m/kb.
If I would have been a console player, yup it would have been severely ticked off and would have a whole different view on the matter.
I guess it has to do with a single account not being able to have 2 characters playing on it (well it is technically possible, but there is no future financial gain in it for a developer and will add to the cost of the game's maintenance).
I'll throw some oil on the fire, how will one play offline if one has to log in to one's uplay account to start the game ......
I selected the option of "other" because i am a player that i am buying only sport game the year because i can play these games against my friends.
We are not anymore young and our time is limited to playsa we want.
So some weekends we are playing sports game like the old days.
When i heard for this game i was excited first of all for the concept of the game and second for the splitt screen.
i imagined the day playing with some friends this exciting game.
i must say that i invited for the the closed alpha and i must admitt tat the game is awesome.
BUT this desicion of the ubi changes everything.
I never play games myself so probably i dont buy this game.
sorry for my english

The lack of split screen is definitely a game changer for me. My girlfriend and I are constantly looking for new games we can play together, and since we live together it makes absolutely no sense to go spend $400 on a new console. I fully acknowledge that local multiplayer is not the main focus of the game, nor should it be the main focus of the devs. The online multiplayer absolutely has to work and has to work incredibly smoothly otherwise the game will fall apart. However, I don't see why a split screen mode is so difficult that it will affect the online development.
In one of the videos after the Alpha was done, someone said that there was just too much information that needed to be displayed on the screen for it to work as split screen. I call BS on that. Could the devs make it as easy/good in split screen as it is in full screen? Probably not, but that's fine. That's an issue that us few split screen players will have to deal with. If you want/need to keep the same aspect ratio on the screen, do what Resident Evil 5 did - put the screens diagonal from each other (one upper left, other lower right) and use the blank space in the other 2 corners for some of the HUD information. See the image below for an example.
I agree, the problem is that there really aren't any/many "cool" games out there. There are a ton of simple games, like Helldivers, but almost all of them lack the quality of a "real" game like For Honor or Borderlands. Helldivers is clearly meant as a social thing that you can easily hop in and hop out. There's no new/interesting/difficult gameplay or story arc to follow. For me that means it isn't worth spending my valuable time to sit down and play because it just isn't very enjoyable. If I only want to be social I'll go to a park or a bar. If I want to play a video game with 1 or 2 friends locally in my house on my couch, I should be able to do that as well. I was really hoping Battlefront would be that game... but they took away local multiplayer as well. As such, I played the game for 2 or 3 days, then put it down and haven't touched it for a year. I was hoping For Honor would fill that void, but now it seems that it won't and it has me really bummed out. From Dez_troi_aR:
