    Synths - whats their point?

I mean getting them cost tons of resources, they consume resources like investors but they dont generate any income... 0... whats the point of building them? Workforce? I have thousands of idling investors, i dont need more at the cost of decreased income.
    Any thoughts?

That's what I'm try to figure it out as well, my entire economy collapse after I upgraded to synths level, and I have no idea what is the purpose of these Synthetics , Workforce? the last thing I need is more workforce, so dose that mean this thing is nothing more than just an costly eyecandy?

I completely agree, what is the point of them? Iv never had a worker shortage. Get the the synthetic level and then I see they are generating absolutely no income but consuming expensive resources. They are worst than the none scientists in the artic zones. Terrible dlc, thank god they didn't expand to mars that could have actually been worth £10.

So how do they work? After finishing project all investors automatically turned into synths? Can i own synths on lunar/arctic zones too? Actually those two zones would make much more sense - workforce i rare there.
Or, synths just may be a way how to decrease income (i have 900k per hour on expert!) and increase corp level.

No, you cant upgrad to synths level on the moon or arctic, and those from the temperate zone, dont have effect on these twe zones either, and lets be honest, if I have workforce issues on the moon or arctic, I will simply build few modules, which's only cost me nothing in1.8 version of the game~!

    So basically Synths are pointless?

I noticed a Synths building has no lower tiers. Does that mean a city with only Synths will only consume the investor resources? No consumtion of lower tier resources like fruit juice, rice, luxury food??? If so it might be a space saver since with the DLC you can have more world trade routes and u can import lots of higher-tier resources via world market?

Synths are pointless after the fact
but in order to get them you have to have done a sector project with ADAM.
so for the time being the idea of the trade for resources is a good if not needed trade off for them.
The DLC that just came out may be the last one for this game, but if we make a good level of chatter about it they may add more to the game to combat it.
I myself think that Synths are at this time a clue to something bigger down the line. (New game, story ideas, and so on)
If the Frontiers DLC is the last DLC for the game then any new data has to come from the version updates.
The team have done that before with the Big 5 update that added the stock market to the game so I know it's possible to add more to the synths after the fact, it's just the team did not have an idea on what at the time.

If you play on veteran difficulty, now the amount of workers you get is extremely low and goods consumption is extremely high (if you havent changed it in the settings). So Synths maybe needed to fill up the workers shortage

Synths have less workforce compared to Investors, so if you really need workforce, upgrading Investors is a bad idea.

I can think of one reason to have them around, that I haven't tested yet (need to play up to that point again because my old veteran save is broken and can't be fixed with the new settings).

Anyway, the idea is to use them conservatively to buffer the markets, to get more +20 upgrades using less space. I hope that while Synths are less good, you'll end up getting more upgrades to counter it and actually turn a small profit from it. Ie, more people in less space despite using some Synths.

Synths are the corporate board - above Investors, but below you. It is also why you can't be promoted into a Synth except in the Temperate region (the core of your company - and especially your corporate HQ - is going to be in said region; you can't build it in the Arctic or on the Moon, now can you?).
The Temperate region is where all the generalists are (from Workers to Synths); the other regions are home to Specialists (which are found nowhere else) the Arctic Region (except for Vanha Plains - which is under the Custodians) has either Protectors or Scientists - the Moon has either Miners or Officers. The Orbit region is home to YOUR corporate Research SuperStation where your various specialists cross-deck - what you gain here applies everywhere. The Synths are the Ultimate Result of all that crossdecking and the AI and Androids from the base game and are - at the root - Augmented Investors (remember, as part of that BIG Investor growth on the way to building your corporate HQ, you gained access to both AI and Androids, and even WITHOUT Tundra and Orbit, you have - at least - 110,000 Investors with access to both AI and Android technologies - and that is even without Wildwater Bay - now put together Wildwater Bay, Tundra, AND Orbit and discoveries therein. It's like that fissile material under the squash courts on the campus at the University of Chicago - expecting nothing to happen? Not merely Fat Chance, but No Chance At All.
