Hello all! this is Rocklin coming to ya! ( i know name is Corvand but this is the same person with two personas!) First before hand. I use to work with Gamingwithdad, net before it was shut down due to other situations needing attention. So i am venturing out and doing reviews and impressions on my own! So lets get too it!

Knights, vikings, and Samurai. At first it sounds like some cheap 90s flick. But after only ten minutes into actual game play and you realize you have stepped into a new realm of fantasy. Now with this alpha play weekend, we only got a taste of what For honor has to offer. With the multiplayer allowed to us, we got to try out the 4v4 dominon mode. either against AI or other players. This mode is pretty much capture the points, and hold them till you reach a certain number of points. You also have the 1v1 duels, Squaring off against another person or AI. Last and not least, is Brawl. 2v2 fights. Much like Duel, it just adds in 2 more people, making team efforts a bit more of a need.

Now this was only a Alpha version we got to play for a weekend, and not all of the classes were in this version. What we had access to include 2 of each faction. For the Knights.

Warden:A armored two handed longsword wielding champion of the Knight faction. The second class would be the Conquerer. Heavily armored Flail and shield wielding master of combat.

For the vikings, we have the Raider. A Danish axe wielding warrior for the vikings. Powerful strong and utterly fearless of combat and death. The second class would be the Berserker. A duel axe wielding assassin like fighter of combat. Quick and deadly with his axes.

Last and not least is the Samurai. With the Kensei warrior class. With very long Katana's called Odachi's (Samurai verson of a claymore) proved to be deadly effective in combat. These Kensei's are lord like fighters who have fought for years and years. While their second class. The Orochi. are Katana wielding and quick as lightening. Masters of combat and of the Katana.

These are only but a few of what the game had to offer in the Alpha. Now lets get onto the juicy stuff!

COMBAT!

I have found that once you get a nack for the controls, For honor becomes a very fast paced and intense fighter. With a good team on your side and a battle plan, you can be almost unstoppable. Each class has its own special abilities, from the raider's rushing tackle, to the Orochi's smoke bomb and quick reflexes. I found it to be very easy to pick up, but the challenge comes in the form of the combo's in the fights with other players even more so. This will take practice. The maps themselves are fairly easy to remember layouts and quick paths for they are not huge maps, but around a good size for a 4v4.

It is not perfect though, for i found at times the guard reaction to not be very reactive to my controls at some points, and may require some refinement. The indicator does help though and you had better be on your toes. I also found that some classes had their own problems. Such as the Conquerer, would at times, never lose stamina. I have watched it happen a few times, and i do not know if it is glaring issue or just some kind of bug, but it is there.

One feature i did enjoy, is the customizing of the characters. Making your particular favorite standout in different colors, signs, engravings and gear overall. I hope for many many different kinds of looks to see!

Graphically and sound quality I did find to be quite pleasing, though our warriors could use a bit more verbal grunting and screaming as they charge. PC, Xbox, or Playstation, the game it self is a beautiful style of a dark and brutal world that has seen war for a thousand years.

Overall I found the experience to be one of intense combat, quick thinking and acting, in a beautiful dark world. There is some polishing that is required, along with some fine tuning to be had. But what i see is great game coming into the world next year. One i am very much hopeful for and will be playing a ton of.
