I had a idea in the Hall of Heroes Discord, then I was taken hostage by Draxel and was made to write the idea here. So Here it goes.
People were discussing the story and how they wanted something like a small campaign mission for the characters. Like someone mentioned, a assassination mission as the orochi where u go kill someone.
So I expended on this idea, and thought. At Renown 10 we should get a hero mission to unlock. These missions would go through the origin story of our class. For example who the wardens were when they were first created. What was their order. And for completing them we should get a set of armor that is based of the origin of the hero. Like for the warden we should get this armor.![]()
The armor not be able to be dismantled for exp or to upgrade other armor, and should be heroic as it will take us renown 10 characters to even obtain.
I feel like this would be a cool idea as it would give a reason for people to level up one character a lot. And would give a nice touch on the story of our heroes.
I really think this is a great idea that could be very interesting where we can see them as individual characters with personalities and not view them as mere classes. I also like the idea of hero mission with their own unique stories and I'm interested to see what the other classes would originally look like such as ( Peacekeeper, Conqueror, Lawbringer,etc.).
I had fun creating my emblem as the first action of the game. It sets up a roleplay mindset that really brings us into the world. I like the story-based introductions on Youtube that you're all doing for each class and I appreciate what's set up in the opening cinematic. You don't need a lot of dialogue to set up conflict or a lot of backstory either but I do think an opportunity to learn more about the individual hero rather than just the class is important. From the last Warden's lost history to the Conqueror's former life as a criminal, these somewhat archetype origins are interesting because of the emotional decisions they place on our hero. It's all in the eyes and I see the cinematic reflect that sensitivity to war. Thanks for that. The more personal story you can suggest in the game, the inner struggles going on while the greater plot happens, the better. I believe a hint at internal conflict, the type that has to be overcome before the main threat is faced, is classic and good for a game that is already so well supported by research. I'm worried that without it, the game will have to rest on pure mechanics but a lot of us like to really know what we're fighting for - the truth, justice, conquest or whatever. As long as this is a part of your continued development I think the end result will be complete. I don't think I'll ever be in the position to make the compromise in favor of story but if resources were limited, I would and I hope your team never has to sacrifice in that department. Keep pushing that human connection and give us something to gnaw at in the beta please!
