I do agree to a point. I think the best solution is to allow gear to have stats, but instead of making items objectively better, they just serve a different purpose with stats in different areas. This will allow players to customize the weapons and armor to their own play style but not make people win based purely on "better gear"

Having said that, this game is mostly skill based anyways. It feels like even under the current system the gear isn't the outright determining factor in who wins a 1v1. Just compare this to something like World of Warcraft PvP where a recently level capped Hero has almost no chance against a "geared" pvper. This is a good thing that For Honor isn't like this.

As far as i remember from alpha stats bonus from weapons aren't without any downsides. Weapon with more atack had less atk speed etc.By the way changes like shorter revive time i feel are even more op. If you calculate numbers in that case you can run around map twice as long (takinging into account that you die at each fight) and deal dmg (more or less) to enemies which will be then finished by your team. In that case one team is spawning players like some games zombies. Ending this joke example I want to say that stat's shouldn't double the dmg. With this i must agree, but i don't think that there should and shouldn't be things you want to have in stats. It's like saying in my opinion there should only be hp stat bonuses because i like to play tanks.

About masteries and runes in league of legends. I wish you luck wining round without any runes and masteries. You will get pwned early game and won't even get to but any decent items before your team will lose. They change and not that little.

The games i'v listed have huge pvp, while c9 and bns (especially at asia) have really fun pvp with quite huge learning curve. Try in bns fighting as kung fu master. I wish you luck wining even with op items against skilled enemy (any class). They will counter / block / parry / dodge all your atacks easily and finish you off sometimes even with losing less than 10-15% life.

I agree with free stat customization since it would be easier to "create" your prefered weapon instead of finding it. I would even find it more fun if they added possiblity to change loadout or class in middle of round (after dying of course) like it's in overwatch or anywhere else. This way you can adapt to the game going on

About newplayers you musn't worry. There's matchmaking which will do it's job and pair people of low skill with them. They can practice on bots. In league of legends when new player starts he doesn't give up just because he lost 20 times to more or less skilled players (and not because game is free) but learns from his mistakes, updates runes, masteries and tries out new stuff.

I don't even know how many times i'v died at 1st day in alpha before i could even properly atack and defend against other players.

    Agree with OP

Stats on gears like the current system is VERY unfriendly to new players. Many people who did not purchase the game on day 1 will be discouraged to ever play the game, because how can they ever be competitive with someone with not only more experience but also hugely better stats on gear? A new player needs to feel that at any point they can get the game and stand a fighting chance in the multiplayer by pure skill, that's what the game is about.

To retain players and keep them playing, stats on gear is one way, but it is absolutely the wrong way and it will ruin the game and the potential of this franchise. Ranked match making, ladder, cosmetics is a much better way to keep the community going.
